Move Over Spider-Man, Venom Is Getting His Own Movie!

When Venom was finally revealed back in 2006, there were some apprehensions, but for the most part, anticipation was huge for the third Spider-Man movie. Then it came out, and even the die-hard fans seemed to be at least somewhat disappointed. What really sucks in these situations is when over-all disappointment tarnishes good bits. I imagine that Marvel is thinking the same thing. According to IESB, Eddie Brock and Venom are going to get their own film. The site says that since the rights to Venom have reverted back to Marvel (New Line had 'em), they are meeting up with a number of "A-list writers" to work on a spin-off film. (They're not sure on how Sony fits into all of this.) IESB says: "We have to assume that since there is movement, and there has been recent meetings with writers, this property must belong to Marvel since they have made an interim agreement with the WGA."
It's not every day that we get the possibility of an evil spin-off. This could be cool, although a bit tricky with the whole Spider-Man part of it (even without the webbed hero as a star, the symbiote grabbed Parker first). But that's just me... What do you think?

I think this is what happens when every American superhero has already been adapted (or is being adapted) for film.
And it's a great idea. When people talk about superhero movies, they don't talk about how great the hero is, they talk about how much they enjoy the villian, and which one.
I wonder if that's why Superman ended up flopping the way it did--most superheroes are kind of bland. There could be a lot of profit in evil spin-offs.

Well, if they wanted too, they could try and make it two movies. Have Venom vs whomever (army?)... and then have Carnage get created at the end, leading to a second film with Venom vs Carnage.

I don't know how Iron Man is going to turn out, but it looks like Iron Man takes on the army or something to that effect. I would like to see Venom do the same (Though not in that horrible Incredible Hulk way from that movie).
Venom is the coolest looking character from "Spider-man", now let's see if they can make him do cool CG things.

Sounds great to me, as he was terribly underused in spiderman 3 and a really cool character.

Spider-Man 3 was the most disappointing movie I've ever seen (and I've seen plenty), but I still liked it. However, Venom--my favorite Spidey villain--was one of the film's lamest bits.
They just need to try to rally together and make Spider-Man 4 what SM3 should've been. If Raimi and the cast stay, there's no way they're not aware of the heavy fan criticism, and hopefully they'll listen to it.

aside from the fact spiderman 3 sucked. the problem was so many things but having tobey do that stupid scene where hes walking down the street acting like an idiot was one of the worst sequences i have ever seen in a movie. out of place it seems like they wanted to turn the movie into a comedy. ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE. anyway they should not give venom is own movie its ALWAYS been venom vs spiderman or carnage. they need to make a spider man 4 with its main focus being venos and spiderman no stupid sandman just venom and spiderman main focus. call it spiderman vs venom they need to share it since venom needs to have a lot of screen time. then they need bring in carnage. the only problem is carnage is such a dark and evil character they would get a more severe rating cutting out a lot of kids
