First Look: 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine!'

Now that's more like it. The other day a few photos of Hugh Jackman appeared online, and they were touted (by us and many other) as the first official photos of Hugh Jackman back in the Wolverine get-up. Well, USA Today has snagged the first official official look at the new film, and now that's the Wolverine we've all come to love, adore ... and not ask to scratch our backs. Hell yeah -- he's angry, he doesn't know what the f*ck is up with his body and he's ready to claw his way to the truth.
On the character, Jackman said, "I think one of the reasons the X-Men took off is that it connected in a way nobody saw," Jackman says. "They're mutants with powers. But they're also outcasts for being, and everyone connects with that on some level. And who wouldn't want the power to get back at the people who ostracized you?" Then there's this bit of juicy info: "Wolverine's nemesis Sabretooth "is going to play a big part in it. And there will be a good bit of cameos" of new and familiar mutants. But you can't give too much away, because fans are pretty hard-core. Their expectations go up a level every time you come out with a new film." Sweeet! And the cameos will be? What do you think? X-Men Origins: Wolverine hits theaters on May 1, 2009.

nah, that twisting effect we're seeing is just due to some bad anti-alaising from when cinematical resized the original picture. Check out the original pic at the usatoday site and you'll see they're metal, nice and shiny.

i'm probably alone when saying this but this movie seems to me a
double edged sword. while i love x-men and the movies for the comics
i'm a little upset with a movie that focuses on just one character
(even though he's the new definition of big screen badass). dont get
me wrong part of me whises this was coming out sooner but part of me
is saying wtf? i guess when i sit and think about it i guess i
dislike the idea a bit because it seems like the company that put
these x-men movies are struggeling to get more cash from an already
milked cow. i'm sure i'll be humming a different tune by time this
comice book character biopic like origin film is released.

"BESERKER BARRAGE!!!" This photo is kick ass. I'm more of a Gambit fan, but I just want a poster of this!
Speaking of cameos. Where the hell is Gambit?! It's been a long time coming and Gambit needs to right up there picking a squabble with Wolverine.

People forget that the X-Men book was quite unsuccessful at first and was canceled a number of times. It seems that the message that outsiders can find their own kind and be cool is one that really caught fire in the 1970s. It's impressive that its popularity continues, very likely that the story lines so mirror modern civilization and its discontents. I'm betting there will be more spinoffs, with so many characters to play off each other. Personally, I'd like to see an X23 picture. You think Wolverine's bad, meet his "cousin."

uhm not for nothing but they could in fact be bone... remember this is a PREQUEL which means that pic could be from the time Before he was given the adamantium coating to his skeleton (which includes the claws) Wolverine was not born with the adamantium it was bonded to his skeleton (remember flashback scenes from X2?) so yeah those definately Can be bone claws.
