Shia LaBeouf Talks 'Transformers 2'

Well now that we know Michael Bay has already written the script for Transformers 2, it's about time we hear from that film's star, Shia LaBeouf, and see whether he's ready to go from Indiana Jones back to fighting giant f**king robots. The young star spoke to Empire recently, and seems to be pretty far along in preparations for the sequel. He says, "I know of a few things I have to work on for the next one. I've seen pre-vizes of the action scenes and I just saw Michael yesterday. It's going to be bad-ass. We're not making another one unless it is, and Mike is definitely not resting on his laurels - he's doing insane shit again. And the pre-vizes that I've seen... it's just massive. If the first one was any indicator of how massive massive can be, this is going to blow that out of the water. It's insane."
Massive? Insane? Hmm, doesn't sound like the quiet character piece we were all expecting. Shia continued, "Mike's mind was just kind of made for this - it's amazing. There's going to be a lot more characterizations with the robots, which I'm excited about. I was a fan of Transformers before the movie came out. And there's going to be a lot of action...That goes unsaid, I guess." The characterizations of the robots is a good thing, because I didn't know who the hell was who in the first film. This time around, I want them to cry -- I want the robots to sit around a campfire and share intimate details with one another. Surprisingly, Empire didn't ask whether Shia would get to roll around in the dirt with Megan Fox again. If not, though, I imagine they'll have someone just as hottie in there as a substitute. Transformers 2: Michael Bay Kicks it Up a Massive Notch is currently scheduled to arrive in the summer of 2009.

I just ran Shia's comments through babbelfish. It translated them as, "If you thought the first movie was steaming pile of CGI garbage, you haven't seen anything yet! We fired any computer animator that knew what 'physics' meant. It's going to be even more UNbelievable!"

In describing the script for "Transformers 2," written mainly by director Michael Bay over the course of the recently resolved writer's strike, the returning "Transformers" actor Shia LeBeouf uses words "massive" and "insane." I, for one, am not surprised.
What is one to expect of a screenplay written by Bay himself, who in fact, does not posses any screenwriting credits on any film. Rather, Bay is known through Hollywood by another signature: fast cars, explosions, ridiculous action, obvious humor, and slick music video flair. All of which can be found in any of Bay's high-octane summer blockbusters including the aforementioned "Transformers."
When I walked into the multiplex to see the first "Transformers" this last summer, I was prepared for one of the crowning achievements of my young adult life. With a premise such as: evil alien robot cars vs. good alien robot cars, I couldn't imagine the lame story I was about to view. Especially from producer Steven Speilberg, who usually never lets me down, even for something entirely unoppologetically commercial.
Sitting in the theater, I was somewhat surprised at the lack of imagination that went into the film. This was not a "film," it was only merely a "movie." Still stunned by the great wealth of imagination that must have gone into the visual aspects, I was forced to modify the very personal relationship I had with Bay's picture. In other words, I grew to accept what it was: massive, and insane.
Overall, "Transformers" and Michael Bay came to turn a downtown roller derby into the next hot thing: a downtown roller derby with cool special effects and cars transforming into monster robots. This is fine, not great. Sometimes, audiences have to unfortunately ask themselves why a robot war spectacle is not enough. Why do we need a great story with great characters? Why can't we just blow shit up? Or, shall I say, blow it up artfully? Though this bit of news may be merely a flick of the great marketing strategy audiences will get slapped with come the summer of 2009, it only confirms Hollywood will once again take the same stale ideas from the fridge and re-microwave them to something nearly satisfying and eatable. But at least, this time, it is not pretending to be anything but the highly intelligent "bad-ass."

you gotta be kidding me. This movie is based on a cartoon and toy. What would you expect, oscar worthiness. It was what I expected, an action packed movie with awesome special effects. People who put this movie down obviously went to see it for the wrong reasons. And if you are gonna put down the CGI effects, then tell me, have you ever worked with the technology they use, its not easy work to accomplish. I have 3ds max experience, which is the software they used in the movie, and all I can say is wow, they really took the time to get it right with the money allocated.
