Ryan Reynolds Suits Up for 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine'

Definitely, or maybe? According to AICN, Ryan Reynolds is definitely showing up in X-Men Origins: Wolverine as the character Deadpool -- which not only means there may be a new spinoff franchise in the works, but that this new Wolverine prequel will be chock-full of groovy comic characters. As per Wiki, the character is "Nicknamed the "Merc with a Mouth", Deadpool is a high-tech mercenary known for his wisecracks, black humor, and satirical pop-culture references. Like the X-Men's Wolverine, Deadpool is the product of the Canadian government's paramilitary Weapon X program, although his place of birth is unknown. After Weapon X cured his terminal cancer by implementing a regenerative "healing factor" extracted from Wolverine, Deadpool is left disfigured and mentally unstable."
Sounds like the perfect comic book character for Reynolds, who's made a name for himself in the comedic realm and always looks relaxed in front of the camera. But can he kick ass? Additionally, Film School Rejects also claims to have received information indicating that The Blob will make an appearance in Wolverine as well. The character is just that -- a friggin' giant blob-ish mutant who "possesses an extreme amount of pliable body mass, which grants him superhuman strength and his own gravitational pull. Possessing the mindset of a bully, he mostly uses his powers for petty crime and as a member of the Brotherhood of Mutants and Freedom Force." Fat dudes, funny men -- seems like Wolvy will get rather dirty in this one.
What do you think about adding both these characters into the mix? Too much?

I never thought the Blob was a great character IMO. I think Ryan as Deadpool would possibly overshadow Wolverine, and possibly the rest of the cast. So as much as I like Ryan as an actor, I'm not too keen on the idea of him in the role. However when it comes down to it, I'm just hoping this movie dosen't stink as bad as X-men 3.

Hello, did you not see him in Blade 3 or Smokin' Aces? He'll need a lot of training to look good with Hugh Jackman but I think he will be able to hold his own.

The most interesting thing about Deadpool in the comics is that he knows he's a comic book character and often breaks the fourth wall, usually to great effect. I wonder if this trait will be utilized in the film?

Deadpool is one of the greatest Marvel comics characters.
I think he will perfectly fit in a Wolverine movie: just like Logan, his main power is his healing factor, and he has great combat skills but is not overpowered: no laser thingie, no flight, no telekinesis... just enough for great hand to hand combat scenes.
And, his past story, with weapon X and canada and Logan adn makes perfect sense for the plot.
Now, they just have to give him a spin-off with Cable.

I'm not gonna say that Reynolds is the perfect person for Deadpool, but...well, all right, maybe he is.

The only thing that Reynolds would need to do is the voice really (and any appearances before he becomes Deadpool). Deadpool pretty much always keeps his mask on. And underneath is a mess of disgusting scarred flesh.

Deadpool often take his mask off on Cable&Deadpool, when he watch tv.
I'd love to see him watching tv without mask (with only his boxers on), answering the phone to someone who wants to talk to deadpool, put him on hold, go get his mask, put it and answer.

I love the idea of having Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, but I guess I was still holding onto him saving the 'Justice League' movie as the Flash... nah, screw it! Marvel all the way because Deadpool is the best.

I expected a bunch of Reynolds hate on here, but am glad to see that you guys think he could pull off the role as much as I do. I think this movie will be awesome.

What's gonna suck is that he'll probably be in the movie for like 1 scene. Kind of like Colossus' cameo in X2. Which in my opinion was way cooler than his actual role in X3. As long as Reynolds wears the mask, gets buffed for the role and maintains his comic wit i think he'll do fine. He better get ripped cause there is nothing worse than seeing average to below average guys put semi tight suits on and have nothing underneith that will convice you that they are a super hero...see Ben Aflake in Daredevil, pathetic!

um, have you seen Reynolds with his shirt off? He is seriously shredded. He could stand to gain 10 or 5 lbs of muscle, but average/below average he is NOT. The guy is already ripped as all hell.
It's funny I found this today. I looked up Ryan Reynolds because as I was sulking in my own out-of-shapeness, I was thinking about Reynolds, then wondered what movie he has in the works, then thought to myself that the should make another action movie. My first thought was Deadpool. He is PERFECT for the role.
