First Pic and Further 'Twilight' Cast Released

I've been writing so much about the upcoming young adult vamp horror adaptation Twilight that I'm beginning to think I should read it. I probably would have if I were 10 or 15 years younger, as I used to devour every vamp or horror-themed YA book out there. (Oh, how I loved The Vampire Diaries.) Now it's just picking at those old interests.
Anyway, that's Stephenie Meyers' first vampire family up above, and yes, that means the casting for the Cullen family has been completed. Following up the casting of Nikkie Reed and Robert Pattinson, MTV reports that Peter Facinelli (Can't Hardly Wait) will play Carlisle, Elizabeth Reaser (the once faceless girl on Grey's Anatomy) will play Esme, Jackson Rathbone (The O.C.) will play Jasper, Ashley Greene (King of California) will be Alice, and Kellan Lutz (Stick It) will play Emmett McCarty Cullen.
I have no idea if these guys are right for the roles, but I'm really getting a kick out of Facinelli with blonde hair. Go to MTV to see a bigger version of that pic, plus two more.

Well, I heard that after Harry Potter ended, fans began flocking to Twilight, just looking for something else similar to read. It's supposedly a shorter series, but still good. I don't think I'll read them, I'll wait for the movie (Surprised it already is casted so fast).
I did read all of the HP books before the movies though... I liked the books more, but the movies are still great.

I wouldn't put them anywhere near the Potter series but they certainly make for entertaining reads and great characters. I'm rather looking forward to this.

Omg.. You have got to be kidding. Please don't wait for the movie to come out. They are the best books I have ever read. I'm dead serious. I used to read Harry Potter and then got bored. Trust me i know that you have to like books to read Harry Potter, but I never liked reading so I didn't like them. Then one day I go to the store and pick up a copy of Twilight.. the BOOM. I read all three books in two and a half days. They are great (if you like hot vampires and a good romance novel). BTW if you do read them... you'll fall in love with the charatcers... Edward Cullen anyway. :)

The books are nothing like the harry potter books. I really wish people would stop comparing every new book to harry potter. Harry Potter wasn't that great compared to some of the literature we have in the world. All the classics like Moby Dick, and the current like My Sister's Keeper or Ender's Game. All are way better than harry potter. Oh, and the Twilight books are really good you should read them.

anyone who wants to watch this movie, i reccommend not to... read the book, it's better, & you'll fall in love with it within the first chapter. iLOVEEDWARD

Um ya, that's freakin rude!! I mean can we just step back into reality for one second please? Stephenie Meyer's characters are FICTION!!! These people are REAL!! You can't honestly expect there to be anyone like Edward out there -- that's why he's in a book and not on screen. Plus, if there was someone hot enough, he wouldn't act HALF as well as Robert Patinson. So a little compassion here please? Let's act like adults and not seven year old, winy childeren! JEEZ!!

If you are only making a judgement from this picture then I'm sorry but you shouldn't make assumptions about things because it makes you seem like an ass. It's been stated by fans, and the CAST THEMSELVES that that picture was a quick, thrown together type thing so people would stop bugging Summit about "OMG WHO THE F*CK IS PLAYING {insert characters name here}" and second of all.....you probably only think that this cast "sucks" because they aren't like what you imagined in your head...am I right? Because if thats the case....GET A GRIP! everything isn't going to be like how you picture it in your pretty little precious mind! I'd like to see you go out there and find 7 completely GORGEOUS people that are oozing acting talent that could pull off playing the Cullens! And also regarding Stephenie Meyer's choices for the actors...she has said herself that she has ABSOLUTELY NO SAY WHATSOEVER IN WHO GETS CAST IN THE FREAKING MOVIE!
Just some things for you to think about.
Anyhoo I however don't love the cast that much but I believe that they are all VERY talented people and thats what is going to make this movie awsome.

Thank you so much! Exactly what i was thinking, and you put it into better words. All i could think was Holy Mother of Cow that guy's an ass.
And i absolutely LOVE the cast and am behind them 100% of the way! I heard Robert Patinson blew them away in auditions. I think by the end of the movie everyone will be clapping and chanting his name becuase he really made us think he is Edward.

I absolutely love the cast!! Well Esme and Rosalie are a little wrong for me, but Carlisle, Edward, Jasper, Alice and most of all Bella are perfect. Carlisle is hotter than I had orginally read but I read it again today and I think he fits soooooo well now. I think it is an excellent casting job.

the people they chose for Twilight..to be quite honest...SUX. bad choice for all male charachters..and so not the best choice AT ALL for edward. bella is okay..but still not what i pictured while reading any of the books..she isnt bella material. i dont understand..i really just dont. the movie is probably going to be a big disappointment!!

they already started the movie..and everything..so drop the bs.. and get with the program.. sure they're not we all expected..but that dosen't mean that this movie will be a disapoitment.. just hope for the best and just wish them luck..so that ur movie tickets won't be a waist of time/money.
For some people the actors/actresses are perfect..for others people's tastes it might be different..
they can't make the movie fit to everyone's perspective.. so please .. stop the crap already..

Though I think that Michel Welch(Mike Newton) should play Edward instead. Hey you with the picture, I understand. The cast should at least look somewhat like thae caracters in the book. Dude I'm paler than these people!! Arn't vampires pale??? I thought they were. It really is not that hard to find cute gourgeous people. there is a perfect jasper in my school. Hot Blonde Blue eyes tall muscular. HELLO??? People open your eyes!!
Oh, and just because you don't like the cast, don't just not see the movie!!!!! Do you not like things to be in a better perspective. I for one like watching the transformation from book to movie, no matter how horrible it is.
Also, STOP COMPARING IT TO HARRY FREAKING POTTER!!!! THAT IS SO SICK!!!!!

my (adult) daughter turned me onto these books and I have to admit they're not bad. of course they're aimed a an adolescent audience but i believe the HP series was too. so what? just 'cuse we're "grown up" doesn't mean we cn't enjoy a new story. and these do give a new twist to the old vampire stuff. read them, by all means.so there!

Please don't think you are to old for these books. I am 40 years old and when my daughter first came to me and said "Mom, you have to read these books." I thought she was crazy...why would I want to read a teen romance book about vampires? I finally gave in and started reading them in at the end of last summer 2007, by the end of the next week and a half, I had finished the next 2 books. And I have read the series twice. It had been years since I had actually read anything (I have 4 children, need I say more) and now I can't stop reading. Anything I can get my hands on I read and I owe it all to Stephenie Meyer (Thank you, Stephenie). I'm looking forward to Breaking Dawn and The Host.

It seems that nowadays wherever I go I have to face up with the omnipresent Twilight cult, much to my effort to stay away from it. This Robert Pattinson dude was an indelible shame in the Harry Potter cast, and now to my chagrin he reappears in the most freaking nonsensical series ever. I don't care anymore why people are so insane about this series since it is not even worth reading twice, but the way Twilight fans constantly compare it to Harry Potter is really putting me in an raging temper. It's an insult to Rowling to compare this freaking series with her great Harry Potter, so stop it!!!!

Robert Pattington has perfect features and that sexyy stare eye melting thingie
everyone whos whining get over yourselves and just appreciate that your getting a movie at all!
i for one am absolutelly 100% addicted to the series. I LOVE TWILIGHT and am for sure camping out on August 2nd when breaking dawn comes out !

why is everyone comparing Twilight to Harry Potter? if someone ever compared a book i wrote to Harry Potter i think i would cry. HARRY POTTER SUCKS!!! like the first time i even tried reading it i think i got through like half the first page and got really board. twilight is so so so much better than harry potter! if you think so too, halla at me!
