Shia LaBeouf Has a Bad Feeling About This: New Indiana Jones Poster
Filed under: Action, Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Paramount, Comic/Superhero/Geek, Remakes and Sequels, Images

EDIT: Yes, Paramount has officially confirmed this poster as fake. You can stop writing nasty e-mails to me now. It's difficult to fact check when the facts aren't there to check, dear readers. . .
Courtesy of Paul and the Unofficial Movieblog, we have the latest Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull poster. It was photographed out in the movie wilds, so that's why it's not as crystal clear as you may wish, but it should fulfill your Shia LeBeouf wishes.
He looks less than thrilled, doesn't he? I wasn't sure what he was holding at first, but I think it's Cate Blanchett's rapier. Rapiers, of course, being standard weaponry in the Soviet Union of the 1950's. Maybe that's why he looks a bit sad. "I thought I was going to get a gun. Why can't I have a gun? Even a whip is cooler than a gun. Dad's got a whip AND a gun."
I just can't get excited for this movie. I keep expecting to wake up and find out it is all a bad dream or elaborate fan prank.

What? I'm not excited about a long-overdue reboot with a cheesier-by-the-minute script so I'm clinically dead? Lucas has already declared fans will hate it, which fills me with loads of confidence.
I was happy with Indy riding off into the sunset. I never ever wanted a 4th film. It smacks of the 80's reboot trend -- Rambo, Rocky, John McClane, etc. I could write a long and passionate defense of Last Crusade if you really want to hear it.
As for pitying my significant other, I'm fairly sure they wish my blood was of that kind of cool temperature. ;) Comes with the hair color...

Wow, how can you NOT be excited about it? I figure if it's as good as or better than Crusade, I'll be thrilled. After Munich I really feel Spielberg is back in top form.

It's not Spielberg who has us worried. Its the writer that scares us, a fellow named George Lucas. You know, the same guy who wrote Star Wars eps. 1-3.

Yeah, Lucas is beyond dreadful at writing, but I believe, while I'm sure he reviews and makes suggestions for the script, he's returned to his role of "story credit" for this one. He got that same story credit for all the Indiana Jones and the original Star Wars. I think he's decent at the "big idea," it's just the details he's bad at. Hopefully they kept him away from those details.

I am so dreading this film. Its light years too late in coming. Besides, Last Crusade was the perfect ending to this character. The knight goes on his great quest and rides off into the sunset for God's sake. What more could you ask for?
I felt so badly used by Lucas after the Star Wars prequel debacle, I don't feel I can trust him. And Speilberg? I loved the guy, right up until he decided he had to remake ET. Both these guys seem to be grasping at whips and light sabers to recapture their youth. Sorry, its gone. The three Indiana Jones films have aged well and live on in movie history. They will go on to fascinate and entertain generations and continue to increase enrollment in medieval studies and anthropology for years to come. Bask in the glow and be proud of your achievments and stop trying to relive the glory days with just one more film...
And, I really can't stand LeBouf or any other poster child that Hollywood decides to force on me. I guess I should be thrilled they didn't do the truly unthinkable and try to replace Harrison Ford with a younger version. I'll keep a light burning for the film in the hopes it can actually pull it off and have my Indy Fedora ready to eat if the dream actually comes true.

The poster looks pretty uninspiring all the way around. Of course, I am biased since a friend of mine did the poster artwork for the first 2 films. Can't say I'm that interested in the movie at this point, although there is plenty of time for me to gain interest between now and opening day.

This movie will be awesome, I can't wait...but for your own info Paramount has confirmed this as a fake, which, really anyone who has ever seen the quality of real Indy posters of the past can see when you look at it.

I had a feeling this was fake. I highly doubt Drew Stuzan would do something so uninspiring. Next time, check your facts before launching into such a rant.
BTW, did you really read the script, Elisabeth? I highly doubt it. Plus, cheesy tough-guy lines are part and parcel of Indiana jones, whether you like it or not.
Tigerlily: I must also disagree with your assessment of Spielberg. I highly doubt that MUNICH, SAVING PRIVATE RYAN, or the upcoming CHICAGO 7 are the work of someone trying to recapture his youth. As for Lucas, he's only doing the "story credit", and more of then not, his ideas have been shot down by Spielberg and Ford.

Since Paramount didn't include us in the denial, I had no proof it was fake. I've seen the same photo/illustration before, and I suspect it'll show up in some similar capacity in "real" promo stuff.
And while I haven't had direct access to the whole script, I've gotten a few bits and pieces, and seen the leaked prop photos. Forgive me my own opinion here, but an alien crystal skull is hardly in the same class as the Ark or the
Holy Grail. And I've never seen anything cheesier in my life than Cate Blanchett's "Soviet" villain. But assumption from the peanut gallery is always a fine thing.
