'Justice League' Set for 2009

With the writer's strike over, Warner Bros. believes they have a winner in this Justice League movie, and they're once again plowing ahead to try to get the film up and running for a debut in 2009. Variety tells us that writers Kieran and Michele Mulroney are currently re-tooling the script, while George Miller remains in pre-production in Australia. Additionally, the cast have been told to keep training for their roles. As previously reported, JLA will feature Adam Brody (the Flash), Common (Green Lantern), Armie Hammer Jr. (Batman) and Megan Gale (Wonder Woman). Other actors are rumored to have landed roles, but nothing seems to be official yet.
By mentioning Armie Hammer Jr., we assume this means Batman and Superman will play key roles in the film. Just recently, there was a rumor going around that had both characters scrapped from the new flick. Then again, since the script is still being re-tooled, we really don't know what the final outcome will look like. Assuming all goes right, Warners will use Justice League to launch solo films for a few of these other characters, like the Flash and Wonder Woman. Marvel, on the other hand, is taking the exact opposite approach: They're launching solo films -- and cross-promoting characters within each solo film -- before stepping up to the plate with an Avengers film. Which do you think will be the more successful route?
Also of note: Warners has set a October 16, 2009 release date for Spike Jonze's Where the Wild Things Are.

I don't understand why they wanna include Batman and Superman! People will just compare it to what they already see in Bale and Routh and it will pale. Just leave it as: Green Lantern, Flash, Aquaman, Wonder Woman, Green Arrow, Black Canary and Martian Manhunter....the original lineup. Start from scratch. Their Year One story is actually pretty cool anyway. Supes and Bats didn't come into play until later. Why doesn't WB try and save Superman from Singer's deadbeat dad status? And George Miller....really? Please! Stop and desist.
I do like what Marvel is doing better. Let the solo character films stand apart and then think about team-ups.
Ah well.

Marvel's route is obviously better.
Seriously, I think that Justice League is going to suck, and I'm not just saying that to be a snarky fanboy Internet poster. I honestly believe it will be a bad movie.

Adam Brody should be good in this film. I'm excited to see him in a new project.

come on WB!! you already have a Superman in the making (Tom Welling of Smallville) and a Green Arrow and a Aquaman (Justin Hartley and Alan Richman)
plus a cult following that you could maneuver into a solid movie with Lex Luthor as the bad guy.
by using other people youre just going confuse the fans you have right now.

I agree with the line-up from Smallville. I mean seriously... I will feel the same as my friends if Tom Welling is not used for the role of Superman...and that feeling is Why in the heck would I want to watch this abomination? It was hard enough adjusting to Routh. Now that I have viewed Superman Returns more times than I have thrown up Routh has grown on me a bit but come on... enough is enough! WB needs to push for the Smallville Cast and make a kick butt Justice League movie by using these characters and cut out the inbetween friends drama of the tv series. I have waited patiently for something like this.... maybe I should go to town or to class and become a writer myself somehow or else I will never see this happen and neither will all of my friends who wish for the same outcome......... why WB why?
