Well, there has been another bidding war in Hollywood, and another studio gets to emerge victorious. The Hollywood Reporter announced that Warner Bros. have purchased the film rights to Josh Lieb's young adult novel, I Am a Genius of Unspeakable Evil and I Want to Be Your Class President (and while I'm normally not a huge fan of overly long titles, this one is pretty cute). The story centers on a chubby and awkward 13-year-old boy with the reputation of being the dumbest student in the seventh grade. What his classmates don't know is that, in fact, the boy is actually an evil genius with one of the largest fortunes on the planet. He's even got an underground lair underneath his suburban split-level. In an attempt to please his do-gooder dad, he comes up with the idea of running for class president.
Lieb has worked as a producer and a writer for television comedy; some of his highlights include The Daily Show and The Simpsons. Lieb has also done some screenwriting in the past, but the bad news is that the finished product was Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo. Lieb has two other scripts in development; first up is Big Stan with Rob Schneider as a bullying inmate, and then it will be Party Boys with Will Forte as an ex-con who works as an entertainer for kid's parties. My money is on Boys as the better flick but really there isn't much to choose from. Lieb has only just sold his book proposal to Penguin Books, so the film could be a while off. Genius will be produced by Warner Bros. along with McG's Wonderland Sound and Vision -- just keep your fingers crossed he's busy with Terminator and won't want to direct.

I was thinking of Mandark from Dexter's Lab. Or at least Professor Chaos from South Park meets Dexter.

What? No Barry Ween comments? None? Not even with a MTV's Real World joke thrown in for old Judd Winick?
I'm a big Dexter's Laboratory Fan, but I think Barry is my favorite boy genius, and he was just a little on the evil side.
