Mahalo Lists Some of Filmdom's Best Evil Robots
Filed under: Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Fandom, Lists
Isaac Asimov had his three rules of robotics -- they can't hurt humans, they must obey humans, they must act to protect themselves except when it would violate the first two rules -- but we all know that robots are a lot more interesting when they break the rules. In fact, most people are more interesting when they break the rules, too. In fact, I hate rules. Rules are stupid. Anyway, the folks at Mahalo have compiled a list of the best evil robots from popular fiction, including movies, TV shows, comic books, video games, and even a rock album. They're not ranked, nor are they listed alphabetically, so I'll assume the 23 entries in the list were presented randomly. Surely the best evil robot is the T-1000 from Terminator 2. I mean, right? He's on the list, and so are other obvious choices like Maximillian from The Black Hole, Megatron from Transformers (pictured, looking actually quite friendly in cartoon form) and the ED-209 from RoboCop. I love that they include Robin Williams' creepy android from Bicentennial Man, too.
There are some I'd forgotten about and some I probably wouldn't have included. I mean, is Conan O'Brien's Pimpbot 5000 really evil? And I had never heard Andrew Thompson's song "We're in Business," much less seen the evil-robot-based video, but there it is on the Mahalo list.
Have a look at the bad 'bots they came up with. Then report back here to tell us which ones you think were overlooked. Let's celebrate the robots who are awesome enough to break the rules! Not like that pansy C3PO.

What happened to Rutger Hauer's character from "Bladerunner"??!! That list was pretty comprehensive, but that is a glaring omission.

Let's not forget The Cybermen from "Doctor Who" these are Robots that Chose to be Robots. They were originaly Human, but decided to abandon what made them human, and become cold hartless machines.
