'X-Men 4?' Probably Not.

Shawn Ashmore gave an exclusive interview to ShockTillYouDrop.com, who inevitably asked him if he would ever reprise his role of Iceman in a fourth X-Men installment. If there is to be a fourth, Ashmore hasn't heard anything about it. "Honestly, I don't know. I would love to do another film, but I think they're doing these spin-offs and origin stories, so I can't see in the near future there being an X-Men 4, but I have no idea to tell you the truth, it's really hard to say. I'm holding my breath, waiting for it to happen, but I'm not sure if it will or not."
The third installment gave him the chance to finally engage in a mutant battle, and he's dying to do more after so much build up. "I was waiting to do some of that stuff since the first movie. It was five years, six years in the making to really shoot ice and be in a battle and all that stuff."
It is always really gratifying to hear from an actor who shares the fans enthusiasm for a character and a film series -- you always feel a bit bad for them hearing the same old "Are you ever going to reprise that role?" Apparently, the question still gives Ashmore a good feeling. "It's a blast. I love the fact that there is such a huge audience for The X-Men, characters I love and characters I've lived with so long that it's really exciting when people are like, "Aw, man, I want to see another one." That's great, and that gives me a boost to hear that stuff, so that's really cool."
I'm not sure how I feel about a fourth film, when the third installment let everyone down so badly. But maybe Iceman will return via a Wolverine installment -- you know they won't stop at just one.

I've got this brilliant idea. How about we wait about 5-10 years and then do a re-start and ignore the previous movies?
As a fan, I'm willing to ignore a lot of crap, I mean I'm all for the "re-envisioning" stuff that comics do every so often. You need to do that. However you have to admit, the movies are really pushing it. For example, they basically turned Rouge into the character of Jubilee, just without Jubilee's lame-o powers.
My point is, how freaking hard is it to follow a plot line that's already made for you? And yes this DOES include video game movies as well!

It's Rogue. Like 'loner', not 'Rouge' as in the Avon Lady.
Xmen 1 and 2 were great movies. Ratner really pooped on Xmen 3. Rogue was turned into a teenager because there was no room or time for the backstory involving Ms. Marvel and so on. They trimmed her role to make room for Wolverine, Cyclops and Jean Grey, and then for Nightcrawler in the 2nd. If you didn't like the first two, that's just nitpicking. They were entertaining movies, but the third was a pile of crap.

1st- you try and work and type. Doesn't always work.
2nd- See, I disagree. The first 2 were entertaining if u forget about any other plot in the comic universe. The 3rd at least Ratner tried. We've proven Singer didn't i.e. Superman Returns- Known also by it's other title "What a Waste of Film."
3rd- They coulda just left her butt out like they did half of the other X-Men. Besides at least then I wouldn't have to hear Anna Paquin speak. Her Cajun accent was just about, if not as bad as Kevin Costner's English accent in Robin Hood Prince of Thieves.

Forget about the other plots in the comic universe? Yeah that's sorta the point- as it's a movie with it's own continuity and not a continuation from issue 583 of one of the many X-men variant comics. I suppose you could say Ratner 'did his best' but even then it wasn't enough to save that movie. It was terrible. Gotta love that 'daytime to night time in a single 10 second shot that I hope no one notices' by Ratner. Come on.
And then bringing Superman Returns into the mix? How does that have any relevance to the X-men films? Totally different movies, totally different mythos. Yes, Superman Returns stunk. I don't disagree there but X1 and X2 were and are a couple of the best comic-to-film adaptations that have been done. Ratner isn't half the director that Singer is. I was really surprised that he didn't cast Chris Tucker as Storm and Jackie Chan as Psylocke (you know, the one that they TOTALLY misrepresented in X3 - if you even noticed her 2 second screen time).

Having pulled up both the directors profiles on IMDB I say they both kinda suck. But if u really want to bring up all the probs with the X-Men movies, let's not forget casting. For example, I love Famke Janssen but she was really too old for James Marsden . One or both should have been re-cast.
Then let me think- the Script. Once again referring back to good ol' IMDB, 2 out of 3 of the writers on X2 wrote guess what? Superman Returns. (btw Supe is my reference point of Singer being a crappy director/person) So obviously Singer had a absolutely NO idea what he was getting into in any of these movies. Yep, I'm just gonna blame the script writers instead of the director who apparently didn't do what every other director in Hollywood does and let me see I don't know, change the script. Sometimes good or bad. Either way couldn't have hurt that much. (And just in case u missed it, yes pretty much my entire rant was dripping with sarcasm)
Now back to my original argument, why cant they just get a writer from the series (comic book, video game, whatever) who knows something about the whole universe to help write the screenplay? At least if he/she makes changes it's usually a decent idea.

Yeah some people just can't be satisfied and need to find any possible thing wrong with a movie. They can't look at the movie ITSELF and like/dislike it but they have to blame every other possible person involved with it. It's a poor (not to mention idiotic) outlook to have, but I guess whatever floats your boat.

Wow indecks did someone forget that I already said that I agreed with you (in comment # 3) that the first 2 were entertaining? I'm glad that we can re-read over previous comments to make sure that we are correct in what we've said. Rehashing what I previously said, I (in my perfect world) wish they would get someone who knew the subject matter to write the script and have the director follow it.
And just to clear matters up more, you can ask any one of my friends, I happen to like crappy movies. This means that I am entertained by most anything. That does not make a movie good. That just makes it entertaining. After all, as much as I hate to admit it, but I like most Steven Seagal movies.
