Everyone wants to know about this movie -- and thankfully, Jason Segel is willing to tell all about it. On the heels of the latest plot hints from ComingSoon and CHUD, Segel spoke to Empire and revealed that he's planning to scatter the Muppets across the globe."It's a classic story," he told Empire. "It's the Muppets needing to get back together to save the show...It's going to take place all over the world. Basically, the Muppets are no longer together. So that might take a while to film. I guess they've set the precedent in that last movie (Muppets From Space) that Gonzo is, in fact, an alien, so he could well end up in space. That guy's all over the place!"
He also works incredibly fast -- the script, which is being co-written with Nick Stoller, is halfway finished. (Which says we probably will see it before Five Year Engagement.)
And yes, we can expect cameos from the Judd Apatow gang. "I'm hoping there'll be cameos from our group of people. I think that might be what makes it work. It's not going to be raunchy like our movies though! Every time I bring it up with somebody - Mila Kunis, Jonah Hill, Seth Rogen – they say, 'Oh my god, you're writing me a part'. So I don't think there'll be trouble casting. I would love to star in it myself. I think that's the plan, but right now it's just a script deal."
I think we all guessed the Muppets wouldn't be raunchy, but this should console those who are only going to hear "Apatow guy" and "Muppet movie" and leap to conclusions. You know, those people who don't hang out in cool spots like Cinematical. It's not much, but I like where Segel is going -- or at least I am swept away by his obvious love and enthusiasm for the Muppets.

I am really excited if they make this movie. I love Jason Segel (I saw a screening of FSM and Loved it) and I love the Muppets. I also like he is giving the movie a classic muppets movie feel with them trying to save the show as opposed to something too "high concept".

I think this Muppet movie is the most exciting movie news of the year. The kids of today need to be exposed to some positive role models (aka Kermit and the gang). I hope that the movie meets my expectations (and it seems to be on the right track). The fact that Segal is writing it makes him even more adorkable.
