'Transformers 2' Just Got BIGGER!

If you thought the robots in the first (live action) Transformers film were big, then wait until you get a hold of what director Michael Bay is planning for the sequel. This one is still in rumor form right now, and comes to us via IESB -- but apparently (and this might be considered a spoiler warning) Bay has plans to introduce the Constructicons into the mix. In the cartoons they were Decepticons and their names were Scrapper, Bonecrusher, Scavenger, Mixmaster (Mike?), Hook, Long Haul and Michael Bay is F**king Awesome. Since Bonecrusher was used in the first film, that name will most likely change to something like Biggest Sequel of All Time-er ... or something along those lines. The whole thing with these robots were that they could join together to form one massive robot called Devastator (see fan art to the right, courtesy of IESB and Rise Studio). Now, while there's a chance Bay leaked this info on purpose in order to throw us all off, I could totally see this being the real deal. Why wouldn't he want to go bigger and badder for the sequel? Whatever the case may be, do you Transformers fans like this direction?
IESB also got hold of a bunch of new character descriptions, including one for a guy named Chuck who they're saying is Sam's funny, geeky roommate at Princeton. A part for ... Jonah Hill maybe? According to the other descriptions, it looks like the sequel is heading to New York City. Yay ... so maybe Bay should ask Roland Emmerich how to convincingly demolish NYC on screen ... yet again. Transformers 2 is due out next summer.

Well there was also the rumor that the Dino bots
(Beast Wars) would be in this movie too. So I don't think both groups would be in the movie. But what ever one it will be I think and hope that the movie will be better then the first.

Constructicons vs Dinobots? If you're going to moan about that not happening ever in the Transformers universe, well last time around they didn't take a lot of notice of that universe - most of the cars were different to suit the GM and Ford model range, Megatron was an alien jet plane (??!?!?!?!) and Optimus Prime had a blue flame paint job. So rumour or not, anything is possible.

moan was the wrong word there, sorry, and I didn't mean this to be a reply to your comment, Joe.

I love how people say that Transformers (2007) sucked, when it actually rocked and was nearly a perfect translation/update. What complaints can you possibly have about the movie that aren't director oriented? What were you looking for? A deep plot? Come on people! It's a movie based on a CARTOON, which was designed around a line of TOYS about robots that transformed into vehicles and beat the shit out of each other. That's the story. That's the plot. That's what happens in the Transformers mythos. Big robots transform and fight. THE END.
Last I checked, every bit of that mythos is in the latest movie, and it looked fantastic to boot.

The Constructicons being in Transformers 2 is a great idea. It just add action and suspense to the film when they all transform into Devastator and fighting the Autobots. I love the G1 cartoon but having the Constructicons in CGI is even better for this film.

Joe-
I believe the Dinobots existed in the original series (working from memories about 20 years old) and you are confusing the original Dinobots with the Beastwars transformers series.
The original Dinobots consisting of a T-Rex, Pterodactyl, Triceratops, and Brontasaurus. They existed in the same timeline as OptimusPrime and were friends/allies with the Autobots. I believe the leader of the Dinobots was Grimlock(the T-Rex). In the future please double check your facts or we will have to revoke your Nerd credentials.

The Constructicons actually sounds cool. But I hope there are more than JUST GM and one or two Ford vehicles this time around. What killed it for me was the fact it looked like a commercial.

Indeed, the Dinobots were built by the autobots in the original cartoon. 2nd or 3rd season I think. In fact, for a while they were the only viable defence against Devestator, until the Aerialbots showed up. Granted, there was Omega Supreme, but he fell apart if you blew on him the right way.
Note - Please no Omega Supreme in the next movie.
And the 1st movie gave exactly what I wanted - GIANT TRANSFORMING ROBOTS. Lose the stupid humour in the middle though. The Autobots "hiding" in the garden? Lame.

First it was Grimlock, Slag and Sludge. Later on in the cartoon series, the Autobots built Swoop and Snarl on Earth.
Grimlock is the leader of the dinobots. Optimus Prime and the dinobots are considered G1 characters in 1984.

If Megatron can come back (which he most likely will) Bonecrusher can come back. That means the other Constructicons could meat up with Bonecrusher after Starscream brings them to Earth. And then chaos!
But first, if they're going to bring Devastator, they need to take out the line in the first movie where that d*** tank thing said he was named Devastator! That tank was originally sopposed to be named Brawl, (and he pretty much IS named that in everything else) so why did they change it at the last moment to Devastator?! I mean, c'mon! That's probably the ONLY thing I disliked about the movie. Everything else the absolute best of the summer.
Other than that, the constructicons would be friggin' awesome! Just think of how tall they would be... and how dangerous. Decepticons: one, Autobots: zero. Now they just need something kick aft for the Autobots to even out the score, something like... oh I don't know... the DINOBOTS! That would be even cooler! Just saying.
