One Million Signatures and Uwe Boll Will Quit Making Movies
Filed under: Action, Comedy, Horror, Games and Game Movies
Seems like Dr. Uwe Boll has been navigating the globe for about seven months with his Postal / Seed double feature tucked under his arm. He pops up at various festivals and conventions, shows off his new masterworks, and then hops a plane to another continent. And he does lots of interviews, most of which are pretty damn amusing. The latest Q&A with the king of krapola appears on FEARnet, and it's there you'll find some solid questions about animal abuse, Nazi humor, and all those crazy German tax shelters. But the best part of the interview comes near the end. It goes a little lot something like this:
"FEARnet: Are you aware that there is a petition online, signed by 18,000 people, requesting that you stop making movies?
Boll: Yeah, I know that. 18,000 is not enough to convince me.
FN: How many would it take?
Boll: One million. Now we have a new goal."
So there you have it, ladies and gentlemen. Uwe Boll has thrown down the gauntlet. If we can get another 980,000 signatures on THIS PETITION, then we will have done our part for the advancement of global cinematic culture. No more BloodRaynes or Houses of the Dead or Dungeon Sieges. If this isn't a worthy cause, I really don't know what is. Maybe if we get two million signatures we can get the guy's retirement to include the "producer" title. Don't wait to sign the thing: Boll already has Tunnel Rats, Far Cry, Zombie Massacre and BloodRayne 3 in production.
Postal hits limited release in late May, and (according to Dread Central) Vivendi Home Entertainment will unleash the Seed DVD in September.

"If this isn't a worthy cause..."
It isn't. It's a promo tool for his next film.

yeah, because nothing promotes a movie like mass hatred.
in these days of torrents, buzz isn't sufficient to market a movie. it has to be positive buzz. if people want to watch a trainwreck, they will just torrent it. you have to convince people that a movie is going to be awesome to get them into a theatre.

The question is, who keeps financing his shitty movies? Don't lousy directors and stars vanish because no one will hire them?

I heard that Germany finances them. I don't know all of the details, but I do know that they do, because it is good publicity for their country, every time he makes a horrible new movie.

i can't believe people are signing a petition to keep someone from doing a job. if you don't like his movies then don't see them - i'd don't watch them. i think it's gross that people are putting time and effort behind keeping someone from doing something that has absolutely no effect on their lives... that's just cruel and mean-spirited.
ask yourself if there could be any other motivation besides being mean.

The reason we sign this petition is to keep him from ruining our favorite franchises and properties. See, he takes something people are fond of, and he makes a mockery of it with horrible filmmaking. We'd rather the films be made by anyone other than him.
So, he can make his films, just not films about the video games, comic books, or books that we love dearly. He needs to choose something original, that no one would even accidentally watch.

Ask yourself if his motivation for shooting bad game adaptations out of his ass is any other than making money.

Holy shit, 125153 signatures as of my signing.
Versus 18 on the above "Save Boll" petition.
I believe the public has spoken, and indeed is speaking as this snowball continues to roll.
I signed mostly because I am exceedingly amused by this whole endeavor, and support Uwe Boll's ability to take light-hearted but serious criticism with an attitude of levity. The LOLs must flow.

He looks so familiar. I saw his profile on the celebrities and millionaires dating site wealthysoulmate.com last week. It's said he is interested in dating hotties on that site!

The problem with this petition is that there aren't a million ppl who even know who Uwe Boll is. Most will see the petition and go "Who the F*&K is Uwe Boll" and they likely haven't seen his movies to even hate them, like me. LOL
