New Video: Maggie Gyllenhaal as Rachel Dawes!

I'm not entirely too sure where this video came from (I believe a few links popped up in the SHH forums), but it's up on YouTube now, so we're all good. Check out the first video of Maggie Gyllenhaal as Rachel Dawes above, as she speaks out to members of the Gotham City press on why she feels everyone should support Harvey Dent (as played by Aaron Eckhart in the sequel). Gyllenhaal, as most of us already know, took over for Katie Holmes after the actress decided not to return for The Dark Knight. It's not much, and this doesn't look to be part of the film (though maybe it will show up on a TV screen in the background somewhere), but those who were curious to see Gyllenhaal in action can finally do so now.
Personally, at this point I'm dying to see a Harvey Dent political commercial. I want children asleep in their beds, and a calm voiceover to say something like, "It's 3am in Gotham City, and the phone rings. Who do you want answering that call? Batman? No ... how about District Attorney Harvey Dent." Check out the video above, and let us know what you think of Maggie Gyllenhaal in this role? I've always had a thing for this gal, so I dig her in just about anything. You?
The Dark Knight hits theaters on July 18.

I love the fact that she is not mega hot, more average than the usual Batman female lead. Why wouldn't a trouble man like Bruce Wayne, who could get all the hot women in Gotham be more in love with a smart woman he knew back when his parents were alive? I like that for some reason.

I guess it's waiting for ambient noise, but it sounds rubbish & I'm sorry but Family guy got it right - she is just too distractingly odd looking, Shame about Katie Holmes.
Still looking forward to this film tho!

I'd much rather see an actress that can use her whole face for a role, rather than have Mrs. Half-Face-Paralysis in any movie.
Besides, even if Holmes could use her whole face - she's really not that good looking.

You're right, she is totally distracting...and NOT in a favorable way! Her acting is painful...but her face makes my eyes want to bleed...simply put, this woman is so unattractive as to cause physical discomfort to her audience...Also, for a supposed "serious" actor, her delivery in this clip is reminiscent of an elementary school child fooling around with her parent's video camera at home...just terrible! Holmes wasn't any better in the acting department but at least she is MUCH easier on the eyes.

I agree with Family Guy and everyone else who just thinks Maggie G. is weird. I don't like her in this role...I loved all of Stranger than Fiction, except for her. I'm just not a fan. I mean, I'm no huge supporter of Katie Holmes, but this just doesn't feel right. I wish they'd found someone different.
Maybe one of the Deschanel sisters?

I loves me some Maggie, but she's moving her head around way too much and looks like a bobblehead. The way she delivers the dialogue sounds way too much like she's giving a speech in a romantic comedy. My excitement about her taking on this role has waned.

it's the best she's looked, though in the trailer she looks more like the chick better fit for Batman's butler. Here's the thing, the fact that a bulk of the viewers drift to wonder why Bruce Wayne is dating this woman, proves its an unpleasant distraction. I wasn't attracted to Katie, but at least i could stomach it.

Phew! I had some trepidation about playing that video, but thankfully it doesn't give away too much.
As for Maggie G. Hmmm...I think I like Katie better. Lesser of two meh I suppose.

Come on Erik Davis you join Batman having lousy taste in a woman with this Maggie Gyllenho. Her ugly smug attitude matches her ugly face and saggy body. She's no great actress but the pornstar of Indie movies. Maggie is anti American so why is she still in Hollywood making movies? She's a terrorist sympathizer she's no Bats love interest but suitable for Bin Laden and Obama's pastor Jeremy Wright.

Nothing to write home about her acting that sucks.
She's not pretty. Ugly is a generous word to describe. Maggie's nose is like Miss Piggy and looks like a jackedup cabbage patch doll. I would barf in any of her romantic scenes in this sequel. Poor Christian Bale.

Maggie is perfect for the role. She has her own face - not some vague cutout like Katie Holmes, or surgical miracle like 90 percent of the rest of Hollywood.
