Barnes & Noble Has a Massive DVD Sale

I had a plan to be speedy this morning -- get my work done and then catch up on other things I need to do. Just as I settle into my chair and plan to begin writing, my friend sends me an IM:
"BN.com has a big DVD sale on." Well, so much for a productive morning. Within moments, I realized that this wouldn't be a quick 2-minute search. They've got thousands of titles marked 40% off or more. I've spent the last half hour scouring the site and the selection is pretty darned impressive.
You can score newer films like the largely ignored but completely worth it Imagine Me & You for less than $7. You can get rare, old '80s movies for less than $5 -- heck, even Thrashin' is on there, that cheesy Josh Brolin flick, for super-cheap. You can get foreign flicks like Eat Drink Man Woman for under $7, which is a big pisser for me since I just bought it used for $15. New and old dramas, musicals, and you can even get From Justin to Kelly for less than $5! But, if you get that, you will be beaten by your shipment when it's delivered. Guy Maddin, classic action, documentaries, you name it! My wallet is screaming in pain.
To navigate the ginormous sale -- get to the 40% off sale page here. Click on your sale category. Then, make sure to click on the text that says: "See all 40% Off or More Action and Adventure in Bestselling order" to get the whole list for that genre. Happy Shopping!

Not to discredit you, but to be truthful, Barnes & Noble is usually the highest priced place to buy anything (Usually charge the MSRP for stuff), so the 40% will bring the DVD's down to just the price level you could get them at at any other store. But hey, "From Justin to Kelly" is just $4.49 (Member Price - Membership costs only $200 a year), so there ya go.

MCW -- I'm a big discount shopper. In fact, there are lots of DVDs that I will not buy until they get to a price I think is reasonable. That's why I made the post -- no matter what BN charges normally, this sale has some excellent, and from what I've seen, unbeatable prices.
Example: John Sayles' Return of the Secaucus 7 Amazon.com = 12.99,
bn.com, without membership = 7.49 and with = 6.74.

Exaggerate much? Membership is $25 a year, which is pretty standard. If you order more than $250 worth of things, the membership pays for itself with the discount.
And with the sale, many of their prices are better than amazon.com, even on sale. The newer stuff is pretty much on par, but everything else, especially some box sets, are great prices.
Toss in the 25% one item coupons that are floating out there, and you can get some great deals. I ended up paying $110 less than amazon for two different box sets... that $220 total.

Yeah I do tend to exaggerate for comedic effect. I don't go to Barnes & Noble enough (2-3 Times a Year) to buy their membership card and make any use of it. But a Borders is nearer to my house, and their membership card is free, so I hit it up more often.
So no, I haven't spent $250 at Barnes in my life. Try finding a book there, it's quite unorganized.

Hey! I work at Borders and we have several 40% off sale coupons a year too, as well as a regular disocunt display of movies for $9.99 or $12.99 and weekly coupons sent via e-mail to our Rewards members. And our Rewards membership is free. I have been reading Cinematical for a few years now and upon seeing this felt it was out of character for this blog to be promoting one retailer over another, even if I didn't work at the competition (and I've only worked at the competition for about 6 months).

Aren't you supposed to preface a post like this with the word "ADVERTISEMENT"?
