Monday Morning Poll: "Twilight" Watch -- Which Character Are You Most Like?
Filed under: Fandom, Movie Marketing, Monday Morning Poll
My daughter and I are huge fans of the Twilight series. We've both read all three existing books -- Twilight, New Moon, and Eclipse -- and are marking the days off on a mental calendar until the August 2 release date of the fourth book, Breaking Dawn, and my daughter and I could discuss the books endlessly.
We've had countless conversations about whether Bella should become a vampire, or if Stephenie Meyer will ever stop teasing us with that and let Edward turn her, already. And whether Bella will have a vampire "superpower" once she does turn, and what that power might be. And which characters we like the most. And so on, and so on, as I'm sure the rest of you hardcore Twilight fans do.
Although Twilight is huge with the Young Adult target market, as numerous commenters have noted, there's also a ton of older chicks like myself who dig the series. There's even a website and forums for "Twilight Moms" --older women obsessed with the series and with all things vampire and werewolf. I think there must be something alluring about the idea of immortality and love that appeals to older women as well as teens -- those of us who are older, who are at or near the midpoint of our mortal lives, find the idea of living forever, of not succumbing to age and illness, and being forever young with a hot vampire boyfriend, rather ... alluring.
While I suspect most Twilight fans are obsessed with all-things-Edward, many Twilighters probably also find they identify most with one vampire or another -- or with Bella Swan, who may or my not eventually become one herself. I'd have to say I identify most with Bella. She reminds me a lot of myself at that age; I was generally a lot wilder than Bella, but if a hot vampire like Edward had come my way? I'd have been a creature of the night in no time.
Which Twilight character are you most like?

I enjoyed this article. It was nice to see an author of an article that actually read the book they are writing the article about. I too am an older fan of the books. Thanks for writing about us older folks!

I saw the link for this poll on the lex and was instantly interested. I think I am a mix between Bella and Alice, I know, odd, but true. I am the hugest klutz, love to cook, love to read....and then I love to shop and dress up. Haha so I guess Im a Bellice

I am an older and obsessed Twilight fan! I still prefer the Twilightlexicon over the other sites. I only check it 20 times a day! lol! Thanks for giving us something to satisfy our Twilight fix for the day! :)

I don't know which of the Twilight characters I am like! I want to be like Alice, but I know I am not...if I had to choose, I would probably say I am like Bella, but then I would be lying to myself. I can't really identify with her beyond her plainness and books preferences (I am a huge Austen fan!).

Thank you, this article is very nice. You should have written the "A Behind-the-Scenes Peek at 'Twilight'" article.
-saw this in the Twilight Lexicon first!-

I identify in many ways to bella and how she was in highschool. I see things like edward, I'm very logical, and over think many things. I see her persective very well, so it's difficult for me to say one or the other. I believe that may be why I love the characters so much because there is so much I can relate to in each of the characters. Lastly, I love to shop, so I can relate to Alice... now I've got to work on the endless money situation :-)

I love that someone finally recognizes the "older" audience (though I almost resent that being a mere 27 years old, myself *wink*)! I have to say, however, that the reason I love these books is not because of the thought of immortality being alluring (though, hey, I wouldn't turn it down) - rather, it's because it's one of the best, sweetest, purist stories of love that I've ever read. That's something that appeals to all ages.
And hey that other site that people keep mentioning . . jealous much? It's been SHINING through lately on your front page blog - the GREEN. For crying out loud - get over it! We are ALL lovin' the same books, the same characters, authors, actors - and you're site is not the supreme authority, nor is the Twilight Moms site. Share the love, everyone! There's room for all the hundreds of sites dedicated to this lovely book series! :)

What a great article!! I love that both you and your daughter are fans of the Twilight series and are able to discuss it together. A lot of daughters wish their moms would read Twilight. As a moderator of TwilightMOMS, I wanted to invite you to join our forums if you haven't already! And your daughter can join our sister site, TwilightTEENS!
Thanks again so much for the awesome write up!

I love this poll and the article. I saw this on the lex and thought it was neat. I think that I'm a mix between Bella and Esme. I've been told that I am very mother-like (even though I'm only fourteen and have no kids), and my BFF calls me "Bella" because I can't walk over a flat surface without finding something to trip over. I think I'm a bit of Alice, too, because I can get extrememly hyperactive with no warning at all.
Seriously awesome article.

Kim Voynar, your article is a like “breathe of fresh air.” Thank you. Yes, I’m a 40-something mom and I absolutely love this Twilight Series. My teen daughters kept begging me to read them…I finally gave in. What a wonderful way to “bond” with your daughters!!!
This series is a truly beautiful love story…deep love and passion, a Romeo & Juliet!
And yes, a member of Twilightmoms;)

hey, i saw this on twilightlexicon and decided to check it out... i honestly think that it is a hard question to answer... if i think about it, i seem to have a little bit of most of them in me, but i think that i am mostly like bella... i love to read, and i am a extremely clumsy person... i trip over my feet about a million times a day and hit my head on anything and everything, heck, i was trying to get off the stage in the auditorium one day and fell off cause my foot got stuck in a crack... i am also a little like alice cause sometimes out of nowhere i get really hyper and crazy... but i think i am more like bella...

My friends say I'm most like Alice personality-wise but I'm kinda like Emmett cos I'm quite tall and apparently I give big, warm hugs. Which is kinda weird seeing as my hands feel like ice.....I have really bad circulation!
