Do They Serve Beer in Hell?
It's always interesting to read something about book bestseller lists. Where a big movie can come and go in the flurry of a few weeks or a month, to be a big, noteworthy text means to stick around for years. The Hollywood Reporter posts that Tucker Max's I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell, which has been on the New York Times bestseller list for 3 flipping years and has had a number of adaptation deals fall through, is going to be whipped up into a big-screen comedy that Max will write, and Bob Gosse (Niagara, Niagara) will direct. As quoted in the introduction: "My name is Tucker Max, and I am an asshole. I get excessively drunk at inappropriate times, disregard social norms, indulge every whim, ignore the consequences of my actions, mock idiots and posers, sleep with more women than is safe or reasonable, and just generally act like a raging dickhead. But, I do contribute to humanity in one very important way: I share my adventures with the world."
Yes, folks, another jerky dude movie, but let's hope this one won't star Dane Cook. The film will focus on Max's "trip to a friend's bachelor party, where he ensnares the groom in a lie that threatens the wedding, then abandons him to pursue further carnal knowledge. After being banned from the nuptials, Max attempts to get back into his friend's good graces." Well, at least this bachelor party craziness won't end up with insanity and dead prostitutes. The film, which is being privately financed, will slip into production June 2 in Louisiana.

I'm actually reading this book right now and, honestly, I find it kinda entertaining. It's broken up into small stories and i try and read a couple anight before going to sleep. Will it make a good movie? Probably not because the content is amazingly NC-17/X rated and much of the obscene humor will be lost in translation to the screen.
The big question is, does anyone actually believe all this stuff he wrote in the book? Well, I don't... I think a lot of it is made up for humor's sake (or ever-so-slightly "exaggerated" for the purposes of sly humor and witty dialogue).
But that's OK... I am still chuckling my way through it. I never treated women as badly as Tucker did in school, but there were some things he wrote about that ring true to ALL men while in college.

I've been checking out his website on and off for about five years... He has some hilarious stories on there.
One of my favorite stories included him having talking with a few other guys when his date came up to them and she wanted to join the conversation. Quoting my favorite Bond line he shoos her away by saying... "Run along now, man talk." She was understandably furious at him.

I read some of those stories and this guy is not only a pathological liar but also a douche bag. Run along, man talk? Honestly, who would feel fine after saying that to a woman who simply wants to join a conversation, what would the pay back be, some laughs from the guys there? That's so gay. I cannot understand who finds this tales of male supremacy dreams interesting. I do hope they give it to Dane Cook so that all things stay in perspective down there.

You would be surprised at how smart Tucker Max really is...if you've followed what he's done with his media company, etc over the past few years, you would come to find that it goes much much deeper that his "fratire" foundation.
For starters, give his blog on the movie production a chance:

He and the other producer Nils Parker are giving people like me (who knows nothing about how movies are made) a lot of insight into the workings of Hollywood, from the perspective of someone who is new to the game of making movies.
