After a lot of hemming and hawing, some hopeful casting news, and outrage over McG being attached to direct, it looks like Terminator 4 is good to go.There are a few things to glean from this Hollywood Reporter story. First, obviously, is what's in the headline: Moon Bloodgood, who played Generic Love Interest in Pathfinder and starred in the canceled television series Journeyman, has been cast as the female lead, a survivor of the nuclear holocaust we witnessed at the end of Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines. She joins Christian Bale, Sam Worthington, and Anton Yelchin. Second, notwithstanding earlier reports to the contrary, the third sequel is apparently still called Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins. Finally, the movie is scheduled to begin principal photography on May 5th, which means that barring some Terry Gilliam-scale disaster, this long-speculated-about project is actually happening.
Count me among the McG skeptics. Previous installments of this franchise have been helmed by world-class action movie craftsmen (disclaimer: I am a fan of Jonathan Mostow), and I'm not convinced that McG has either the chops or the instincts to fill their shoes. The mincemeat he made of a terrific story in We Are Marshall doesn't inspire confidence, and the pyrotechnics of the Charlie's Angels films don't tell me much. That said, I'm excited for the Terminator saga to continue, since there's a lot more of this story to tell (and since Google is currently building SkyNet). Has anyone been watching the Fox TV show?

Sorry, there's nothing "world-class" about U-571, which was a crap story that stole the glory of a real WWII intelligence coup from the real-life heroes to give it to a group of fictional Americans, or T-3, which turned a tight, thoughtful sf/action movie hybrid into a cheesy glop of ludricrous chase scenes, sexist cliches and sloppy direction. A chilling ending does not redeem the two hours of crap that preceded it.
McG doesn't exactly fill me with confidence but he's certainly no worse than Mostow and I've actually enjoyed at least one of his films.

It would be good to know how much of a say Christian Bale has on this project, maybe McG and him can have an understanding and can avoid the Hulk rumors surrounding Norton and his director. Bale is the one thing that can legitimize this project, he must know that and McG better keep that in mind, the man tends not to be attached to total crap projects.

First, I agree with Eugene T3 was a great, fun action movie. I loved it.
Second, the only thing that keeps me from being so pissed about this whole project being taken over by McG is Christian Bale. Bale is hands down the best actor around right now (he pushes Norton out because of Norton being a complete ass most of the time)
IF Bale wasn't attached I wouldn't care about this movie at all. But with Bale onboard you know this movie is going to rock.

It boggles the mind that someone can hate T3 and then be ok that T4 will be directed by the guy who did Charlie's Angels. (T3 was awesome, BTW......and those that think T2 was brilliant, I have two words: Edward Furlong (ack!).
