Cinematical Picks: Our 10 Most Anticipated Films of the Summer
Filed under: Action, Comedy, Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Fandom, Comic/Superhero/Geek, Remakes and Sequels, Lists, Summer Movies
In a little over a week from now, Iron Man crashes into theaters -- signaling the official start of the summer movie season. I know we say this every year, but come September, we could be looking back at one of the greatest summer movie seasons in history -- with popular franchises like Indiana Jones, Star Wars, Batman, Hellboy and The Chronicles of Narnia returning to the big screen. We're eagerly anticipating the arrival of new superheroes like Iron Man and Hancock, there's another adorable Pixar movie, an equally-as-adorable stoner flick from Judd Apatow and the revival of a very funny '60s television show on the big screen. What's not to love?
So in the spirit of sharing our love (or lust, depending on the lighting) for all things movie-related, we at Cinematical present our 10 most anticipated films of summer 2008. Our writers got together, looked things over, and, after sending the information through a magical robot (who talks like a black Robert Downey Jr.!), here's what we came up with. Click on any of the 10 photos below to get started ... and feel free to enjoy all the goodies we have on the other end. (Just leave the bag of Twizzlers for me, please).

I have to put Hulk in there instead of Get Smart.

I pretty much agree with this list. Though I probably would take Tropic Thunder out of the top ten and replace it with Hellboy 2. Not that I don't think Tropic Thunder looks good, I'd just put it at 11 or 12.

Being the film fanatic I'am, the films I'm most looking forward to which surprised me not on the list..."Hellboy 2: The Golden Army & "Hell Ride"...not Sure about "Get Smart" or "Hancock"!!!
But yes to: "Speed Racer", Iron Man", "WALL•E", "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" & "The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian"!!

I don't know if it's that I've lowered my standards or if Hollywood is starting to make more movies that interest me but almost every weekend starting last week with Forgetting Sarah Marshall through Tropic Thunder in August has one movie that, at the very least, I wouldn't complain if I was dragged to see it (Sex and the City and Mummy 3 are the only hold-ups).

Not hard to make a list like this in a year like this. Lots of great choices out there for every taste.
Me personally, I'd ditch Narnia and Speed Racer and put in Hulk and Hellboy.

Yeah, understand all that this was a group decision. Some folks on there are more into Narnia than Hellboy or Hulk. So I think this list honestly reflects the wide range of taste and opinion we have on staff here. The family folks want Narnia and Speed Racer, the geeks want Batman and Iron Man, etc ...
Oh, that and we could only choose 10.

Yay! All your Top 10 look great and I plan on seeing them (despite Ben Stiller being in one of them). You know, the more I view the trailer for "The Incredible Hulk" the less excited I am, unfortuantely. But I am so there for "Hellboy" and "Wanted" looks interesting.

Replace "Get Smart", "Pineapple Express", and "Tropic Thunder" with "Hellboy II", "Wanted", and "The Incredible Hulk".
Death to Judd Apatow! (Or, at least, a couple more "Drillbit Taylor" sized disasters!)
