Twilight Watch: The 'Twilight' Teaser Trailer -- Do You Like?

The Twilight teaser trailer is up over on MySpace, and it's short (oh, so short!), but pretty damn sweet (you can watch it above as well). What we do see of Bella and Edward, and the chemistry between Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson looks good. We get a feel for how Catherine Hardwicke is handling the vampires' ability to move faster-than-life, and see a snippet of the scene where Tyler nearly runs over Bella with his van, only to have Edward zip in out of nowhere and save her. It's one of my favorite scenes from the book -- it's really the first moment when Bella comes to realize that there's more to Edward than what she sees, and it looks like Hardwicke has captured that moment well.
My only real complaints are that it's short (I want more!) and that we don't see Alice or Jacob, or the trio of bad vampires. I know, I know, more will be coming, but I'm impatient. Oh, and also ... is it just me, or do Edward's eyes look too normal? I want to see golden eyes, topaz eyes ... "good" vampire eyes!
Alright, Twilighters, I know you're out there, and you always have plenty to say on everything Twilight. What do you think of this teaser-trailer? Are you liking the look and feel of what you've seen so far? And most importantly, how, oh how, are you going to wait until December 12, when the movie finally hits theaters?

I'm paid to write about movies, and "Twilight," aside from being one that I personally care about, happens to have a huge fanbase. Any film that we know has tremendous buzz and a lot of people interested in reading about it is going to get a lot of coverage. I'm covering "Twilight" for the site, because I'm (so far as I know) the only person on our staff who's actually read the books, and "Twilight" fans, like superhero fanboys, prefer someone who knows the material to write about it.
If you're not a fan, and don't care about reading about this particular movie, there's plenty of other stuff to read about on the site. I personally don't care much about superhero adaptation, Bond films, or rom-com films in general, but we write about them alot as well, because they have a huge fanbase that does care about them.

I think it looks fantastic! i'm sorry but if you don't like the film or the books can you really not flame it? what is the point? all you are doing is proving you are childish and immature. some people may find what you are writing offensive and upsetting. And you should really not judge something you clearly know anything about.
Twilight has a MASSIVE fanbase, who care and love this book and are anxious to see the movie. you may feel that twilight is a load of rubbish but you really should just keep that opinion to yourself.
anyway, thankyou for reporting on it cos lots of us DO actually care about the movie and i think it looks great. Robert Pattinson looks hot and Kristen stewart also looks reallly good! i've got high hopes for the movie!

I'M ridiculously excited, and i know about a thousand other people who are as hyped as i am...this trailer was amazing, though way too short. At least now i have no doubt that robert pattinson will be awesome as edward.

The books nonwithstanding (haven't read them) this movie looks pretty weak with a plot that's been done many many times before. Sorry Kim. Your defensiveness is duly noted. The teaser makes the film come across as a 2nd rate Jumper (which is the fairest comparison I can make given how bad it murdered its source material as well). Flame away.

I've read the books and l'm looking forward to the movie, but I'm not expecting much from it, no offense. After seeing this trailer it kinda makes me feel that way even more, especially with the acting and dialogue (spider monkeys, anyone?)

My roommate and I are drooling over Robert Pattinson as Edward. The only thing we're kind of wondering about is why are they flying? They don't fly...they run fast. And we want to see the eyes!! They had better change the color of his eyes *sigh* But it looks good just from this!

My daughter and I LOVE the trailer! I think Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson are perfect in their roles and I'm expecting the movie to be just as great as the books. The only flaw in this trailer is IT'S TOO SHORT!!!! :-)

Sorry, most of the movie going public hasn't even heard of this movie, let alone cares about it. If you people want to get all Clay Aiken fanboy all over it, fine, your prerogative. But don't try to pretend this has some massive fanbase pushing for this film, because Harry Potter this is not.
And if this teaser is anything to go by, no one will have heard of it a week after it comes out to a massive 4 million dollar opening. This looks like a movie of the week on the CW channel.

Just because you've not heard of it, doesn't mean this series doesn't have a huge fanbase. The fourth book in the series, which comes out in August, is currently sitting at #6 on the overall Amazon bestseller list (#1 in three teen categories). Pretty impressive. Many of the "Twilight" fan sites have had to add servers to handle the traffic loads. Even MTV is running a "Twilight Tuesdays" series ... it's more mainstream than those who haven't read the books might think.
Will it outdo Harry Potter? Probably not, but then neither will most movies; HP was a unique phenomenon. But I expect the "Twilight" film will do quite well.

Asking your buddies if they've ever heard of it isn't very reliable research. Check out MTV blog if you want to see how large the fan base is. And just don't watch it or read about it if it isn't your thing. Peace.
