Above: Aaron Eckhart as the villain Two Face in a very brief appearance during the latest trailer for The Dark Knight.
Fresh on the heels of the new trailer comes a Los Angeles Times interview with Aaron Eckhart. Possible spoilers abound -- in fact, I think there is a fairly huge one in there that I cannot believe slipped by. And people rag on us for being spoil sports! So, in order to preserve your innocence (I'm upset that mine is now gone), I shall copy the best quotes here.
Eckhart addressed the fact that the world has not been given a glimpse of his scarred district attorney, and promised that whatever fans have cooked up in their brains is nothing like what we're going to see. "That's right, people don't really know yet. I can tell you that, basically, when you look at Two-Face, you should get sick to your stomach. Being the guy under all that, well, that was a lot of fun for me. It's like you would feel if you met someone whose face had pretty much been ripped off or burned off with acid. I can't talk about it beyond that because I don't want to give away too much of the plans by Chris. There are fans on the Internet who have done artist's versions of what they think it will look like, and I can tell you this: They're thinking small; Chris is going way farther than people think."
I always find it remarkable how much Internet fandom makes it to the eyes of actors and directors. Watch what you write on your blogs -- they're everywhere!
Eckhart sees Two-Face as a vigilante crime fighter; a man who retains a strong sense of justice despite what befalls him. I'm not quoting all of Eckhart here, because I am fairly convinced he spoiled something, but the rest is safe: "My guy identifies with everybody in the movie. Really, all of it is more than an adventure tale, it's somewhat of a mirror of our times. It deals with some fundamental questions of what's going on in society. To me, this film is about how Batman feels about justice, how he takes care of the city, how he feels about the Joker when he meets him and sees what he is capable of doing. How he feels when Harvey Two-Face takes matters into his own hands. It's not simple, and it gets ugly. I think people will be surprised."
The Dark Knight arrives on July 18.

I saw the new trailer when I saw Iron Man. Seeing both of these made my night. It's nice to see well executed blockbusters make a comeback.

Nolan is no cheap pop corn flick maker, you can tell the movie is different and well thought of for detail and suspense, Detective Comics indeed. From the characters to the entire development, very excited about it, can't wait...

I would hardly call it a spoiler. There's no way it "accidentally" slipped by in the trailer; if it was there, we were meant to see it.
Furthermore, at the WW Chicago footage they showed us last summer, Two-Face was more or less shown without being shown.
I'd say they aren't too concerned with spoiling it, seeing how it really is an inevitable fate for Dent.

Him becoming Two-Face isn't the spoiler. The actual one is included in the article, but I won't reveal it because it actually is pretty huge. And interestingly not according to canon.

On the female viewpoint Im after Batman for the drool factor that is Bale. I like Gary Oldman a lot and Eckhart is cool but not into blonde guys.I would be celebrating if the spoiler happens. Yayers!!!!!! Im a military war junkie kind of girl so yes the joker and Batman showdown is intriguing but Im really impress with the military tech advisers and action on Transformers and Iron Man. Chicago Police and the mob pale in comparison with the Army and Raptors.
Iron Man brought back my memories how I love the military air shows at San Diego,Edwards Air Force where Iron Man filmed and Maryland. The American patriot in me takes flight and Im proud. So Im keeping it low with the action expectations for TDK because the Begins action was dizzying and lackluster for my taste.
I think Katie instead of Maggie as the romantic lead is more believable and the hype would be off the charts because the media, public, paparazzis, online blogs and fashion world follow her every move.

By "fiancee" do they mean Rachel? Or Gilda Dent? I hope it's not Rachel. I guess I was one of the few who enjoyed the character...
