New 'Indiana Jones' Trailer!
Filed under: Action, Fandom, Movie Marketing, Remakes and Sequels, Trailers and Clips
Above you will find the latest Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull trailer. While it looks kinda like the last one, it's easy to spot a whole bunch of new scenes and dialogue. Anyone else notice how all these trailers and TV spots have been very light on Marion Ravenwood's scenes? They've included her in this jungle car chase scene, and she's had a line or two, but that's it. Part of me wonders how much she's in the actually movie? Then again, perhaps they'd rather play up the Shia LeBeouf and Cate Blanchett roles over Karen Allen, who, while very well known to all of us movie buffs, isn't exactly a household name across the globe. Kinda diggin' LaBeouf's character more and more each day; he's a fun guy to watch on screen and my fingers are crossed he does a good job here. Reviews thus far have been iffy ... but I'd rather wait to see for myself.
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull arrives on May 22. Check out our enormous (and fairly awesome) gallery of images from the film below.

No matter how much I try to get excited about this one, there is something missing. The mystical power of the first one and the introduction to one of the coolest heroes in the history of cinema will inevitably be missing. You gotta know when to quit, this is so Lucas to be squeezing the last drops of the orange.

What pulls me out of it is that extremely idiotic looking wig on Cate Blanchett. It just looks so hokey and thrown together. Her frame doesn't carry the uniform very well either. But she's got actign chops so let's hope for the best I guess.
It is missing that sparkle. Maybe Harrison Ford has just lost that 'spark' he had in his younger years.

I have no trouble getting excited about this movie, yet I feel I have my expectations firmly in place. As much as I love Raiders of the Lost Ark, the previous two Indiana Jones sequels aren't in the same league; so there's no irrational hope on my part that KotCS will be either.
I've also learned from The Phantom Menace not to make a movie a watershed moment in my life, so I'm just hoping that this film is as worthy an addition to the Indiana Jones mythos as The Temple of Doom and The Last Crusade were. Frankly, I've seen nothing from these trailers to make me think otherwise.
Also, I'm not sure what so many people feel is 'missing'. I keep reading that, yet I've seen no one give much in the way of specifics. Perhaps, I shouldn't ask because this looks like it will be a helluva fun ride to me, and maybe I don't want to know what's 'missing'.

Caught the trailer today while waiting for Iron Man. Loved Shia in his Brando/Wild One getup. Cate gave me the tingles, like she always does. And Karen Allen is as cute as ever. I mean, damn, how old was she in Animal House? That's been thirty years, right? But Indy looks...old. I hope they're building that into the story, like "I'm getting too old for this!" But regardless, Harrison just looks worn out. And, as someone said, where was the zing? You had the famous score, the silhouette of the fedora, 3 minutes of crash bang boom, the Important Voiceover talking about one of cinemas most iconic heroes, but the whole thing seemed sort of lifeless.

I agree with what Paul said above, I don't understand all these people saying that this somehow won't live up to the 'legacy' of the previous two films. Raiders is undobtedly great, Temple of Doom is quite the thrill ride as well, and Last Crusade is meh, at best. So, the reason I'm anticipating this one so much is because I think Spielberg is making some of his finest films now, he's really at the top of his form. It's only fitting that he return to one of his touchstone characters now, and we may finally get a sequel that (in my eyes, anyway) lives up to the brilliance of the first film!

So I'm flagging my following comments as
SPOILER ALERT
But recent reports (and reviews) have indicated that Karen Allen's participation in the movie is sadly a brief one. Basically, it looks like that jungle scene may be the only one she's in...
Also, early reviews have been all over the place, but a lot of them have said the same thing. Don't try placing it as high as Raiders, but more like b/t Last Crusade and Temple of Doom.

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned that, in photo #13, the actor all the way to the left (next to Karen Allen) is John Hurt, I believe this is the first image of him in the film.
