EXCLUSIVE: 'City of Ember' Poster Premiere!
Filed under: Fandom, 20th Century Fox, Movie Marketing, Posters

Cinematical has just received this exclusive teaser poster for City of Ember (click to enlarge), due out this October 10th courtesy of 20th Century Fox and Walden Media. Based on the best-selling novel from Jeanne Duprau, City of Ember was written by Caroline Thompson (Edward Scissorhands) and directed by the very talented Gil Kenan (Monster House). Oh, but the talent doesn't stop there -- check out this cast: Bill Murray, Saoirse Ronan, Tim Robbins, Martin Landau, Toby Jones and Harry Treadaway. And did I mention it was produced by Tom Hanks?
And here's a synopsis for ya: "For generations, the people of the City of Ember have flourished in an amazing world of glittering lights - underground. But Ember's once powerful generator is failing . . . and the great lamps that illuminate the city are starting to flicker. Now, two teenagers in a race against time, must search Ember for clues that will unlock the ancient mystery of the city's existence, and help the citizens escape before the lights go out forever."
Early buzz tells us the film looks gorgeous, so that's definitely a good sign. We've also been told that the first trailer for City of Ember will debut in front of Prince Caspian this weekend. (Chalk up another reason to hang with those peeps over in Narnia.) Once again, City of Ember arrives in theaters on October 10th.
So who's excited for this one?

I would be, but I dislike Walden Media and their goals to neuter Hollywood and collar is with a crucifix around its neck.

No one is forced to watch any movie for whatever reason. Isn't that what everyone in Hollywood says whenever they come out with an anti-religion film?

The producers better change that logo before Microsoft or Eveready sues them for trademark infringement. It looks almost exactly like the Internet Explorer logo or the one for Energizer lithium batteries.

John, I honestly don't see the purpose of your reply. It seems like a rather obvious statement, in fact it just reiterates my sentiment that I dislike the company behind the movie and as such won't be seeing it. Am I missing your point?

I dunno, I usually judge movies on whether they're a good film or not, rather than worrying about the politics of their distributor. Seems like a good way to miss good movies.

I must say: dug the book, and there's potential for a decent young adult adventure flick there (which is more than I can say for The Chronic-what?-cles of Narnia).

You said the film looks "gorgeous." That's all well and good but making a film look good today is incredibly easy, what with the computers they have these days...getting a good script and a decent director...that's whole other thing.

The trailer for City of Ember looks awesome! I’m so excited to see this great book series become a real live action/adventure. From the trailer I can already tell the set looks awesomely creepy on a grand scale. Plus the talented cast of actors should put this movie over the top with actors such as Tim Robbins and Bill Murray portraying the villainous Mayor Cole. I cannot wait for October 10th!
My name is Blair and I am an official ambassador for City of Ember and I have access to first-look pics of the movie not seen in the trailer, which I would be more than happy to share with you. I would love to have your help spreading the word about City of Ember and get the buzz going!
I hope I’m not over stepping any bounds by posting on your blog.
Hope to speak with you soon.
Best,
