Cinematical

Well, I haven't seen the movie yet, but from the trailer, stills and reviews, I'm feeling that the installment of a long awaited Indy will definitely fall short. I felt this way before I read the reviews.

It feels fabricated and the energy amiss. Shia looks like he was picked only because he's at the top of his game rather than a smart casting move, same goes for our villain. It's as though everyone decided to get together and have fun with the idea of a new Indy and shot it - which people will see anyway, I know I will.

Also, a lot of the sets look like sets. I can tell where the stage lights are. I get that the actors are not really on location, but were just called from their trailers! Is it just me?! Maybe we shouldn't be seeing so many damn 'behind the scenes' clips anymore before the release.

Overall, this is a case of powerhouse fillmmakers gone lazy and lacking any sort of creative desperation to make something great. I picture a Speilberg and Lucas sitting out by a pool coming up with story lines between grapes.

Maybe we, the viewers, have already destroyed it because of our impossible expectations due to nostalgia. But that's no real excuse. It can be great, we want it to be great. So why the mixed reviews, why the possible let down?

Maybe it really is a poorly written and shot film. I hope I like it when I see it. Like I said, just from what I've seen thus far, I'm not expecting much from this Jones. Sorry.
