Teaser Poster for 'Punisher: War Zone'

UGO debuted the teaser poster for Punisher: War Zone on Friday (click image to view larger version over on UGO) and somehow I missed it. Ah well, it's a bit of comic book imagery to chew on in the midst of Indy Week, right?I have to admit, I'm a bit disappointed. It's simple and direct, and should excite all those guys from my campus who walked around in really worn Punisher t-shirts -- but I'm a girl, and I wanted one with Ray Stevenson on it. I dig that guy. Still, this is one area Lionsgate probably knows best -- because half the geeks I know go "They made a sequel?" when I mention War Zone. Their second question: "Is Thomas Jane in it?" Yeah, so they have to break this Stevenson thing in gradually, or there will be anarchy.
But look! There's the new release date: December 5th. I hope the teaser poster heralds the teaser trailer. Maybe we'll see something attached to The Incredible Hulk? What do you think? Are you looking forward to Punisher: War Zone?

I'm open to it. It sounds like Laexander knows what she's doing. Plus, it ain't set in Florida!

You're singing my song, Elisabeth! Ray Stevenson IS hot...MAJOR hot. But when talking The Punisher to the fanboys, it's never good form to mention that. Although they didn't seem to mind Frank Castle with O'Brien, somehow being openly hot for Ray disturbs them. I don't quite get it, I guess. So I'm especially glad to see a woman blogging this.
Here's something I think you'll enjoy. Go to the "Punisher: War Zone" message board on IMDB and look at the pics in the thread entitled something like "The Castle/Stevenson/Punisher photo comparison thread."
What some of these fanboys have done is amazing!
Keep blogging Ray, Sister!

It IS problematic when a girl geek blogs about a good looking guy -- and I could whine about the double standard when every site runs Megan Fox pictures with "omg teh hot!!" but meh...I'll just gush over the manly men in the comic books. I'm always looking out for the girls. ;)

I always thought the sequel to Thomas Jane's Punisher would be the Punisher movie everyone actually wants to see. The Punisher's origin doesn't really need to be seen. It can be done in a few flashbacks just to get it out of the way, it's that simple.
That said, I love the MAX series this is supposed to be based on, so I'm excited for it.

I honestly thought Jane did a good job and am less comfortable with him being replaced than the replacement made for Hulk. Oh well though.

Well, I'm that geek you were talking about.
When I saw the poster, I thought "They're making a sequel to The Punisher?" Then I thought "Is Thomas Jane in it?" Uncanny.
I never watched "Rome" so I'm not really familiar with Ray Stevenson and I never got around to seeing Alexander's "Green Street Hooligans" so I'm totally unprepared for the new Punisher movie. I just watched the extended cut of the first one and HATED IT. That being said, I really enjoyed the theatrical cut. They never should have released a longer version...yuck.
Thanks for the heads-up to the sequel.

Well, don't feel bad. I can't say that I would have it on my radar if it wasn't for my gig here. One of the first stories I did here was on Punisher.
Definitely rent Rome, it is *excellent* and Stevenson was truly a highlight in a show full of good performances. (I think every UK actor shows up at some point -- and whoever didn't, ended up on "The Tudors.") Season 1 is the best, Season 2 faltered because I think they expected a longer run and suddenly had to wrap up the end of the Republic in three episodes. Weak!

Wake up PR people. The only reason this film is on my radar is so I can see Ray Stevenson. The least you could do is put him on the poster. If you want to double your money get the girls into the theater, and to do that your going to have to show them Titus Pullo....

Jane did a great job in the first movie, they just needed a real villain and some less cartoonish side roles. John travolta was a campy style casting for a dark brutal bloody drag out kind of movie. You redo that movie, darker, meaner, and genuinely evil and you have a great punisher flick. Jane pulled his weight but the casting people and director let the audience down.
