It took 19 years and a whole lotta convincing, but we've finally reached the day we've all been waiting for (and talking about ... and talking about ... and talking about): Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull has arrived in theaters -- and we want to know what you thought about it. You've read James' review, and Scott's review; now it's time to hear straight from you, the moviegoer: What did you think? Was it everything you'd hoped for and more? Did it disappoint? Were you on the edge of your seat the entire time; laughing, crying, high-fiving your friends? And where does this installment stack up against the previous three films?
Make sure to vote in the poll below, then feel free to discuss away in the comments section.

* It took them 20 years to come up with this?
* It’s not quite as horrific as I had feared it would be. Having said that, there really wasn’t that much I enjoyed.
* If I had been given the choice of either having the movie i saw today being the 4th Indy film, or not having a 4th one at all, this one’s just bad enough that I think I would’ve gone with the latter option.
* There are a lot of moments in this movie where Indy gets the same treatment Han Solo got in “Return of the Jedi”. Namely, “imbecile”-treatment.
* There is one action sequence in this film involving monkeys which is groaningly preposterous. I mean, it’s so bad, it’s almost at the same level as Peter Parker turning super-stud, playing the piano, and dancing on tables in Spiderman 3. As many ridiculous action scenes as there have been in the Indiana Jones movies, this one takes the cake as the stupidest one.
Oh well. Maybe I’ll stick in my Raiders DVD now and try to wash off the negative vibes. I suppose I should be thankful Uncle Georgie didn’t pull a complete “Star Wars” on me and bash this franchise’s crystal skull in too.

After 19 years, the film brings back our aging hero, Harrison Ford, who is simply amazing as the adventurous archaeologist.
It's loud, over-the-top (I.E. the nuclear explosion which just made me shake my head and laugh), but man this is what summmer movies and nostiglia are all about!!
A 100% fun ride...made me feel if I was a kid 1 more time! & that is what films like this are about..put the brain on check and have fun! Don't think, just sit back and have fun.... & be a kid again, even if it's for 2 hours!
Best Part: The Ants...Ohhh God I loved the ants....WOW!!!
My Raring: B+

The new Indiana Jones movie has good action scenes but I think this type of treasure hunting theme is long on the tooth. Harrison Ford is too old for this role despite clever specials effects to enhance his physical ability. This movie lacks the magic touch of 2 previous films because Stephen Spielberg seems to be running out of villians. The scene of young lad swinging on the vines is too cheesy. It resembles cheap, low budget movie.

"It resembles cheap, low budget movie."
You seem to forget that is exactly what Raiders and all of the Indy series are originally paying homage to. The cheap low budget serial action films that George and Steven grew up on.

Akbar, we have your opinion on the movie. You don't need to needle every poster who disagrees with you.

Well Synonymous, I actually havent even given my opinion on the movie. (waiting until I see it again this weekend to determine how I feel)
I was merely pointing out peoples flaws (imo) of their arguments against it. And if I can't do crap like this on an movie fandom blog, then what the hell is the point of it all?

I do not have a single negative thing to say about this movie. I absolutely LOVED it! This film completely blew me away. Yes it was different, but it was still Indy through and through. And honestly, if you weren't expecting it to be different than you were deluding yourself, quite frankly.
Nothing will ever top Last Crusade for me, but hot damn this definitely takes second place.
I guess people online will complain about anything, it seems. Either that or everyone has forgotten how to just sit back and have fun at the movies. Or else I saw a completely different film than everyone else, because I literally loved every second of this.
And about the Shia swinging in the trees bit, OMG that was FAR from a big deal. First off, it was two bloddy shots, totalling about 10 seconds. Secondly, how else was he supposed to get out of that situation than by swinging on the vines? Third, it was obviously a parallel of Indy swinging on the whip. And finally, it was no more rediculous than, say, a 10 year old driving a car, and that scene was really long.

May I remind you that this is a movie? The situation is not real? He could've grown wings on the spot and flown out of that "situation" had Georgie wanted him too. The point is, it was ridiculous.

For me, it was like going to one of those chinese-fusion resturants. It looks like a chinese resturant, has a name like one (peking garden, etc) and the menu has all the stuff you would expect at a chinese resturant but then the food comes out... and while it's still tasty, it's not really chinese food.
This trip with Indy felt that way to me... to me, it was a movie about a guy who looked and sounded very much like the Dr. jones I grew up with, and I had a great time watching and cheering for him but it wasn't really Indiana Jones.

That was dead on.
The movie was full of a million jokes, but I don't think I laughed once.

I am just puzzled that it took them so long to get a script together that they couldn't find one and THIS was the script that got them to do it? I love Indy and I'm so thrilled to have a 4th movie and that Shia Lebeouf is in it --- guess that's one good reason for the wait to have him in it. It has some great scenes and I hope that they have it in them to have a 5th~

I liked it a lot, but like previous posters said the script is just OK, and the alein s was a bad idea from the get go
also it feels tat for most of the movie the filmmakers are fighting the urge to go CGI nuts, and at the end the urge was too powerful so they unleashed and it resulted on the worst part of the movie
like someone said on the way out, "it was good but too much CGI"

ok this was indy 4 or ET part 2 ??? I really HATED The ending .... They should had gone with a lost atlantis script that was floating around the internet a few years ago that would have been 11000000 times better unless they would have toss aliens into it :(

What do you mean? The ending was great (when they used it in Raiders of the Lost Ark!)
Seriously though, the whole alien thing was a massive let-down.

I'm not sure who tried harder to ruin it; Spielberg, Lucas, or Shia.
Blanchett, Hurt, the mushroom cloud scene, and the ship takeoff were the only redeeming aspects. However, those don't even begin to make up for every fight scene involving Shia, the monkey swinging, the shoddy storyline, and THREE waterfall drops in a row.
This wasn't an Indy movie. It was a rip-off of the Mummy movies, which were rip-offs of the original Indy movies. The saddest part of all was a total lack of Indiana Jones' character as seen in the previous films. Spielberg and Lucas should never be allowed to make movies again.

Hmm, I still haven't made my mind up what I think about the film, but the fact I was actually feeling a bit nautious when I left the movietheatre last night should say enough. Don't get me wrong: I loved the part before the break. Apart from the sometimes silly script, the film worked. Then, they started added things which I thought were ridiculous, but accepted nonetheless (the monkeys! the three drops! etc). Once I saw the fricking alien though, I lost it. Aliens! Until then, I was able to accept the shoddy plotline and bad jokes. It worked. But come on, the moment they show that silly alien, it just becomes stupid. The other low-point for me, was when the whole UFO went back up, Indy asks something like: where are they going, back to space? And Ox says: no, the space between space. Come on!
Don't get me wrong, on the whole the movie is not that bad. I still loved Harrison Ford, it had good moments, I had fun. But I just care so much about this franchise, that I get a bit protective of it. I will probably see a couple of times more the next weeks, so I might have another position in a week.

I completely agree w/ Rosalie. All in all, it was great to see Indy on the big screen again. I feel like they could've gone without actually showing aliens and UFOs, and I might have been more pleased. It seemed to stray a bit from the other 3 films by not leaving a bit of mystery around the Crystal Skulls. That's just my take, though. I'll be going again this weekend and I think I'll enjoy it more the second time.

Indy was a hero of mine when I was but a small child, The first movie I seen where ALL of the audience would cheer together, scream and laugh at almost every scene. The atmosphere was electric, exciting and amazing to a kid like me. That was Temple of Doom.
I rushed out to be the first to own the trilogy on DVD and then spent the rest of the day watching every one inc the bonus disc with my flat mates. Reminiscing.
Indy 4 - I took my Girlfriend to see this, 23/05/08 12:01 am. I wanted, no needed to be one of the first to see it on the big screen. All the fun and excitement Indy has given me over the years. I walked out at the end stunned!
I couldn't believe it, how could they turn Indy in to THIS. This clown of a film, Aliens? Double, Triple, quadruple agents? What? No Jones Snr? Didn't he drink from the cup of Christ?
I was embarrassed, ashamed and angry. I write this as I'm sure other Indy fans feel the same. For me this film should be ranked with Terminator 3. Movies that should have never been made.
Boo!!! Lucas Boo!!! Uncle Georgie
