Here is Kristin Kreuk's Chun-Li from 'Street Fighter'

Hmm. Is the above Smallville's Kristin Kreuk as Chun-Li, or is it just Kristin Kreuk dirty after playing in the dirt? Maybe her wrists still hold some impressive jewelry, but from what that picture shows (courtesy of /film), none of that looks like the Street Fighter character. Sure, wardrobes in these sorts of movies rarely look just like their animated predecessors, but something. Anything? Zack Snyder changed things up for Watchmen, but they still look damned cool and pretty recognizable. If you can't recognize your lead character, what's the point?
Here's hoping there's a costume change coming that we haven't seen yet, or at least some hair buns. This project is, of course, Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li, not just any Street Fighter movie. Perhaps this is Chun-Li before someone gives her the famous outfit so she can hunt down her mentor's murderers.

I'm hoping for some pictures of her in the Chun-Li outfit comes out soon.
I'd use her to kick some ass in Street Fighter though.

1. Kirstien Krooeueueuororororork is not Chinese. Chun Li is Chinese
2. She's like 1/99th Asian at most.
3. She's a TERRIBLE actress.
4. She makes the same little face in EVERY FREAKING SCENE in Smallville. I mean god damnit she's doing it in THAT picture.
5. SHES DOESN'T LOOK ASIAN IN THE LEAST.
6. She's not that good looking.

I agree completely with indecks.
She is comepletely the wrong person to play this role:
a - She is a horrible actress, who only has 2-3 faces she uses all throughout smallville.
b - Chun-li has large thighs, buttocks and chest. Kreuk has no chest and no screen presence about her. She is tiny and looks it.
c - When she tries to be bigger than she is, or be a bad ass, she only ends up looking really uptight and bitchy, not strong, because remember.. she can't act (see a above).
d - She is not Chinese, she may be 1/2 but she doesn't really look chinese.
e - Her small martial arts background is not going to prepare her for a Chun-Li role, not now, not ever.
This movie = FAIL.

The only people that could POSSIBLY think this girl is a 'fantastic' actress are either 13 year old boys that popped their first hardon at Smallville, or 13 year old girls that watch every WB show on the channel.
Which are you?

Not to intrude in the name calling, but could someone correct Ms Kreuk's name in the headline?

I've never seen an episode of Smallville and have no idea who this chick is, but I would have never seen her as Chun Li if the caption hadn't mentioned it.

Its adorable to see somepeople who think there opinon is the gospel and anyone who disagrees gets categorised as something which is probably still better than them anyway lol. But I would expect nothing less from these talkback comenters.
At the end of the day its a video game movie and that genre has never been amazing, so no one is expecting big things from this, especially given the previous adaptation.
As far as Kreuk's build, I guess there going the Buffy route (Gellar was pretty petite for most her years on the show) with reinventing Chun Li. Now while that may anger some fans, I dont think it matters too much if it works in the realms of the story, which is that this is somewhat of an origin story, so this focuses on a younger Chun Li while she is still in her teenage years. Of course shes not gonna have the full woman build that we think from the game (for one that sorta build is kinda unreal and second of all if its origin story maybe its about Chun Li as a young girl)
I dont worry too much for her acting ability because for all the criticiscm she recieved as Lana, the majority of that characters "flaws" lie in the writers and the direction of her character which was fairly limited over the course of a long time (which I always that was a shame for both her and the show). In fact she seemed to be having more fun in some of the more blasphemic episodes (Thirst and Spell). While those may seem like corny episodes for Smallville viewers, she looked more charasmatic and that came across well and thats all you can ask for. You really gotta mould young actors and the writing staff didnt do any of the less veteran ones any justice (no pun intended)
Now as far her look goes, she always seemed to have an asian complection. She is after all Half chinese and I have no idea why people would think otherwise. Also I was told by a Street Fighter fanatic of a friend of mine that in Chun Li's origin she actually has european blood (so she Euro-Asian like Kreuk). I dont know if thats true, but facially she looks like Krisitn in screenshots of Street Fighter 4, so I'll buy it.
My only dissapointment is that she hasnt bulked up a little bit more (even if this is a younger version) and that well, she even chose to do this movie in the first place. But whats done is done. I dont think theres too high expectatons, so Im just gonna have fun seeing Kristin Kreuk doing something other than Smallville.

i get the complaint. shes has some asian in her but doesnt look anything of the sort. she does have a history of being able to kick ass on smallville. her acting is not great by any means. i think they should have gone with the girl that played the bad guy in rush hour 2. she was cute could act all asian and definitely knew how to kick ass.

I wasn't seeing Kreuk in the role before, but now, I'm willing to give her a chance. She looks to have a bit of steel in her.

By the way to all the people complaining about why they didnt pick Zang Zyi or Lucy Liu. Maybe they didnt want it? Besides Zang is actually quite brittle and thin herself, so while she had the moves (well wire moves...) you werent gonna get thunder thighs Chun Li either way.

Kristen Kreuk is half Dutch, half Chinese. She has every right to play a Chinese person. She looks Asian (only with blue eyes) and she's gorgeous! How can anyone say otherwise?
