A Memorial Day Present From Zack Snyder -- the Minutemen!

On the heels of the awesome news about the Black Freighter comes the above, via Ain't It Cool News. They have a bigger version available for you to scrutinize the details. When I first saw this posted, I thought it was a fan made thing, until I realized that was really Jeffrey Dean Morgan. I don't think it's coincidence that this has been released on the heels of the DVD announcement, as this is a photo straight out of Under the Hood.
If you are unfamiliar with the graphic novel (and if you are, you need to go read it now), this is a photo of the Minutemen, the original superheroes of Moore's world. From left to right, we have the Silhouette, Mothman, Captain Metropolis, the original Nite Owl, Dollar Bill, the Comedian, the first Silk Spectre and Hooded Justice.
What becomes of them, and why there are second editions of Nite Owl and Silk Spectre ... you will need to read the book to find out. I'm not making it that easy! But this really is a brilliant recreation. I haven't seen one thing from this movie that I am displeased with -- which may just mean I'm in for a huge let down. What do you think, Watchmen fans?

Is this a comedy? I don't get it. Reminds me of a vaudeville or community theatre version of Mystery Men.

If you've read the comic book, which I highly recommend you do, you would get the context of the photo. The cheesiness of it is the point. It offers a haunting contrast to the darker back story, kinda like the retro '50s cheeriness in Darwin Cooke's 'New Frontier' story.

Eric, I pretty much have no idea what you're talking about. I guess I'll have to do some research here. Your reply may as well have been in another language.

I thought Carla Gugino was supposed to play the original Silk Spectre. Did something change? She would have been smokin' in that uniform. Just Sayin'.

Just two quick corrections/responses-
First, Elisabeth reversed Dollar Bill and Captain Metropolis in captioning the picture. That's DB between Mothman and Nite Owl, and Cap in the background.
Second, that is Carla Gugino in the pic, Adam- look at it in full size and you can definitely recognize her.
