'Wild Things' Preps a Month of Reshoots?

From Cannes last week, Kim shared a discussion with Tom Noonan about Spike Jonze's Where the Wild Things Are. Although she wasn't able to ask about the whole Wild kerfuffle that has been going on, between test screenings and release dates, she said: "He seemed to think the film will be released in his current iteration, though of course, if that's not the case, he wouldn't necessarily be in the loop."No, it looks like he wasn't. According to Bloody Disgusting, Warner Brothers has scheduled reshoots for Jonze's film, which will take place in Los Angeles from June 5-30. They say: "It is unclear how much is being reshot, but there are new casting calls out for various stand-in roles."
Considering the fact that test screenings reduced some kids to tears, begging to be let out of the screening, I imagine the reshoots will try to wipe away the scary bits. That'll be good for sensitive young tykes, but not so much for adults, and those who said positive things about the test screenings. Maybe they can just put out two; it would be a shame for the original vision to go to waste. Then again, all of this depends on SAG not striking.
What do you guys think? Should kids get a less-scary version? And, what should be done with Jonze's original vision?

a less scary version would bring in more kids and more money, but i deeply hope they don't change too much. if anything, i hope we at least get Jonze's version on DVD.

Come on! Where's the petition to save this film? Who gives a shit about Fanboys, that movie was going to be awful either way. Spike's vision of this film sounded fascinating; it would be such a shame to never see it, and damn the studios for trying to Disneyfy everything. You hire Spike Jonze to make a movie, you're gonna get a Spike Jonze movie, not Cat in the Hat 2. Dumbasses.

Sounds sick but it would be fascinating to see the original version with scary bits that make kids cry.
I do hope a Director's cut comes to DVD.

According the Empire reports say that only a couple of kids cried. Hell, when I was little I was once scared by the Flintstones, what kind of sense does that make? I watched higher-certificated stuff with no problems. Kids cry at odd things.
If this adaptation looses the feel of the book due to studio butchering a shall be very upset. They have the opportunity to make an absolute classic here.
Ah well, there is always the director's cut.

I think most people with any sense just wanna see the vision Spike Jonze has for this movie.
With the ratings thing, it definitely depends on the age group we're talking about, but i'd say go for both versions if that's what the studio needs to get it released. I'd sit through a more kid-oriented version at the theater if i knew a special edition dvd was coming.
