Twilight Watch: What Do You Think of the Fight Scene Clip?
Filed under: Fandom, Movie Marketing, Trailers and Clips
One of my colleagues just IM'd me with the following: "Did you see there's a 1-minute clip of 'Twilight' online???? OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG." While I suspect he was being just a teensy bit sarcastic with the "OMGs," there is indeed a nice little one-minute clip up over on MTV of part of the scene at the ballet studio with James going after Bella, and Edward coming to the rescue. It's a short clip, but it definitely gives you a feel for how director Catherine Hardwicke is handling the action of the vampire fights, and it's pretty intense.
It's just enough to whet your appetite a bit for the full scene up on a big screen ... and of course, by that point in the storyline, there will be plenty of dramatic tension from what's taken place before that to up the intensity level even more.
On the one hand, I kind of like seeing the cast pics and the little clips to get a feel for how it's coming together, but on the other hand, it just makes me that much more impatient for the film to come out; I don't know how my daughter is going to make it until December, she practically broke my eardrum squealing over this clip.
No doubt many of you Twilighters have already watched (and re-watched) the clip, but if you've not seen it yet, go check it out, already. Then pop on back here and weigh in with what you think about how the film seems to be coming together. Are you liking Robert Pattinson as Edward? Did you get goosebumps when he tells James, "I'm strong enough to kill you ... "? And what do you think of the way Hardwicke is handling the visuals of the vampire's abilities? In an earlier clip, we saw Edward running with Bella, and Edward grab her and leap out the window; now we're getting a taste of the battle scenes. I'm liking what I'm seeing ... what do you think?

"pretty intense"
Looks like a tv series to me. The editing and cinematography is mediocre. Nice shot of a guy breaking through a mirror though.

Doesn't look any better than a fight scene from Buffy or Angel on TV. Not impressed so far.

I loved it. I think the movie is going to be AWESOME!! This wait is already killing me and we still have six months to go. I dont know how I am going to make it. I guess I will just have to read over all of the series over and over again until the movie comes out. lol!!

I thought the clip was amazing, I am a fan of the books and the scene is an almost accurate portrayal of a critical moment in the book. I loved that the director included a scene with Edward and Bella sharing a look, these two characters are deeply in love and she believed that she was going to die and to see him is amazing.

omee!!! i sooo agree!! i think in one part, james said the exact same words as the book...i think it was the part where he says "that's a very nice effect...i thought this room would be visually dramatic for my little film. thats why i picked this place to meet you. it's perfect, isn't it?"...i think it was the exact wording..i thought the clip was AMAZING AND AWSOME!!! i started hyperventalating and screaming...lol...

I really enjoyed the clip...The part that sticks to me the most is the way Edward (ROBERT) looked at Bela (KRISTEN) when he first got to the Ballet studio...the love and sadness was profound...

Yeah, I agree! That was the best part of the whole thing. I thought some of the special effects were awesome while others were not so great (*coughthejumpcough*) But overall I liked it. I do hope they go back and do some more touch ups though .....

The acting, etc is great. But Bella wasn't hurt very much which makes me VERY worried that they have changed TOO MUCH! My daughter had the same response to the clip, what you could see of it.

yeah i was thinking the same thing. i think they changed it just a little too much. i mean they did a good job, but bella looked fine which wasn't the case in the book...

I thirst for more. I don't know how I'm going to make it to December, either!
The scene looked just fine to me. Of course, it's going to look like something on T.V.....duh, it was shown on T.V and it was too short of a clip to get a real feel. I can't wait until it gets to the big screen in a full-length trailer or in the actual movie. I'll reserve judgement on cinematography until then.

There's a difference between something made for tv and something shown on tv. A well done movie doesn`t look like a tv production when shown on tv. But this clip does look like a tv production. The full movie could be way better, of course.

i agree. the clip was good to me, though it didn't make that much impact. considering that it is just a short clip, i still believe that the full movie itself will do just awesome. of course, Summit won't give away the full scene in all it's glory this early, right? (:
i was greatly impressed by Kristen Stewart and Rob Pattinson though.

I loved this clip. The look between Bella & Edward - I agree the sadness & love is just heartwrenching! I want more!!! lol.
Cannot wait for the movie & book 4.
I actually enjoyed the special effects of their movements. Especially when James lands after Edward first pushes him. THe agility in the movement is perfect for my concept of the smoothness of the vampires movements.

The clip was short ... but keep in mind ... the whole movie is still in the editing process per Catherine's note on greetingsfromtwilight.com. I'm sure there are a few finishing touches to be made. But I think it looked pretty good and when everything else is pieced together I bet it looks more than good on the big screen!

it looked Great to me! But my husband, my sister and myself both thought that James was a little too slow when flying above Bella. In other vampire movies, they are just a blur because they are so fast. I don't think it's a HUGE deal considering their budget for the movie was probably NOT as high as some of the other major movies out or coming out. SO...... If we want the second one to be EVEN MORE awesome! WE need to get as many people out to see the movie so that they will have a BIGGER budget for the next movie.

Well... I liked it. I'm a little concerned about some "adaptations" in the movie and how they will handle them, like the van accident and the ballet studio scene. But I think I won't get this answers right now, not until I see the entire movie. I'm truly excited adn I can hardly wait to see it... and I know most of us are feeling just like me. I love the way edward is protraying Edward and Kristen as Bella is simply GORGEOUS! I love the entire cast and how Mrs. Hardwicke is dealing with a lot of aspects of the movie. And I'm REALLY REALLY GLAD that the movie stayed Twilight! Thanks for this space to share our feelings!

I really loved it! Seriously i had really high expectations of the clip to begin with...and to me it was better than expected lol
The best bit for me was how Robs face changed when he looked up at Bella. It was pure vampire to the core, it seriously looked so animal like i was really shocked at how well he really got the emotion of Edwards character and to me that was the best part of the scene!
Not only because Rob is one of my favourite actors but because it just confirmed for me that the movie will live up to the high standards that i expect when based on such great novels!
Cam also stood out for me, he just captured the 'game like' situation that the scene is supposed to be about! I was curious mostly about how the actors would portray the characters so many people have grown to love. And this scene didnt disapoint!
It left me wanting so much more! I'm really impressed!

Anyway, thanks to everyone who decided to put one more schene on the screen; this is proof of that you understand our impatience!
