Tony Stark's 'Incredible Hulk' Cameo Revealed in New TV Spot

A very smart new TV spot for The Incredible Hulk opens on a snippet of the scene featuring Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) and General Ross (William Hurt), spoiling what, for many of your average moviegoers, would have been a giant surprise. Of course, those of us living out our days in internet movie geek land have known about the Stark cameo for awhile now -- and if you visited New York Comic Con earlier this year, you would've seen a good majority of the Stark scene during the Hulk panel.
But the question is: Should they have ruined the surprise for everyone right off the bat with this new commercial? I guess it depends on which side you're on. From a marketing standpoint, it's kinda brilliant and a great way to show moviegoers that both The Incredible Hulk and the wildly-successful Iron Man are connected in some way. And while many predict Hulk will not pull in Iron Man numbers, throwing that film's star in a trailer will certainly help Hulk give its Marvel counterpart a run for its money. Then again, some folks like to be surprised -- but what's to say the Stark cameo is the only surprise in the film? Oooohhh ... goosebumps! I'm seeing The Incredible Hulk in just a few hours from now and I'm stoked. Fingers crossed for Norton, Roth and the gang!

its an excellent idea. a lot of people probably wont go see a big green monster bashign things. lets look at women.generally not the superhero geeks we are. but rober downey jr action movie they go with a boyfriend or a guy friend they say hey why not. not this a big green monster i definitely dont see the appeal unless ur one of us superhero nerds.
so throw him in there and well i still dont see how it will help those that dont follow will just thing its an actor with a dual role. they should have made him suit up in ironman suit for one of the previews EVEN if it was for him to be in the movie only for 5 mins.
and second question is he even going to suit up as ironman or is it all tony stark?

If the rumors are true, what you see in the spot is the majority of the Stark cameo.

Thanks for the spoiler warning. I can wait a few days, so I'll skip this until after Friday. Given the IM fervor, I see this as pretty good marketing. Couldn't hurt at least.

If feedback on the Hulk had come up as positive as studios usually like, there is no way in hell that we would see this. My take on it is that they are afraid this movie will bomb so throwing in a little hook to stimulate the crowd that liked Iron Man seems kinda desperate.

I think it's a great marketing strategy. The average movie goer might not be so into seeing The Incredible Hulk, especially after Hulk a few years back. So by putting in Tony Stark in the ad, it's letting the viewers know this movie and the major success Iron Man are connected and part of the same universe.
