VH1 is Searching for 'Scream Queens'
Filed under: Casting, Fandom, DIY/Filmmaking, Newsstand
Since other networks haven't been successful with reality shows featuring aspiring Hollywood writers and directors, VH1 has decided to move on to aspiring actresses with a new show called Scream Queens. The Hollywood Reporter tells us Scream Queens will be a new series from Lionsgate that will give 10 unknown actresses the chance to compete for "a major role in a horror movie from Lionsgate Films." Major role, huh? Will she be ... the fourth to die in a cast that includes, say, seven? If so, that's pretty damn major. The series, which will include challenges (who can scream the loudest?) and acting tips from coach John Homa, will consist of eight hour-long episodes and premieres this fall. I don't know about this one, folks. As much as I love and support aspiring actors and actresses, the talent in horror films isn't exactly top notch these days. Then again, should VH1 hire Flavor Flav to host a segment and dress their contestants in half-naked horror digs, perhaps they'll attract a pretty large audience. The experiment should be a fascinating one to watch, knowing VH1 and their fabulous eye for sluts and drama. Will you tune in?

Oh Why, oh why wont reality TV just go away? Just about everyone I know hates it. Why is it still on? Why are they making more? Why cant they just put it on that stupid reality TV channel and leave me (and my normal viewing) alone? I hate to watch TV that hasn't been DVRd cause I always being accosted by the next episode of (fill in the blank) "What will happen to Cory on the next episode of cheap to make, horrible tv viewing?" Who gives a crap?!?!? I hate Cory for even doing the stupid show to begin with and I don't even know Cory.
The whole concept, I mean it's just plain GRRRR!!!!

Agreed. Why would people compete for the love of New York, Tila Tequila, or Flavor Flav? Why should I care? Fake ass competitions: That's what they are!
And getting a movie role throught a RTV is just a kiss of death for your career.

Reality shows wont go away Jennifer because tons of people love to watch them. No matter how much you and I hate some of them there are others that freak out when a new season of 'the Bachelor' is about to begin for example. Also they wont go away because some are still very successful; American Idol, Survivor, The Amazing Race, etc. Hell's Kitchen is not as successful as those two but I love watching it.
Granted this show, or probably any other reality show VH1 does, will not be on the level of a show on one of the big networks, I would watch this show. It sounds interesting and probably funny at times, unintentionally. I will be interested to hear what the judges have to say and how the 'actresses' will be criticized.
