'Quantum of Solace' Curse Continues
Filed under: Action, Sony, RumorMonger, James Bond, Remakes and Sequels, Daniel Craig
The producers of the latest Bond movie, Quantum of Solace, may want to just pack it up and give us what they've got, whether or not the thing will make any sense. First they lost an Aston Martin. Then a stuntman was seriously injured during a crash. Then another. Last week, Daniel Craig (aka 007) was treated for a facial injury (requiring stitches). Over the past weekend, there may or may not have been a fire at Pinewood Studios, where the film is currently shooting. And finally (let's hope), on Tuesday, Craig went to the hospital after cutting his hand. Who knows what else will go wrong before principal shooting finishes next weekend? Oh, and there's always a chance that accidents can happen during post-production, too.According to the BBC, Craig's hand injury was minor enough that he returned to the set Tuesday afternoon, and he only received medical treatment "as a precautionary measure." Other reports claim that he actually sliced off the tip of his finger, which probably sounds worse than it actually is. Regardless of how serious, this incident is being viewed as just the latest evidence that the film is cursed. Some of the stories coming out that I hadn't previously read about include Craig suffering a rib injury in Panama and a technician being stabbed by a woman at a bar in Austria. Wow.
As long as nothing too serious prevents its scheduled release, Quantum of Solace hits theaters November 7.

EON confirmed Daniel Craig cut his finger, and the facial injury was minor as well. Quantum of Solace is hardly a cursed film, during the making of Casino Royale, Craig suffered a black eye, pulled muscles, and injured his hand in a fight scene. With action films injuries will happen.
Brosnan was injured while filming during his Bond years too, and stunt men have been injured as well going way back to the early days.
Considering the tragedy of the death of the stunt man on set of Woo's latest film, this is hardly newsworthy, I'm sure Daniel Craig would agree to that as well.

Let's not forget the biggest curse the film faces: Marc Forster.
The guy's a terrible director. I have genuinely hated every single one of his movies, from the absolutely disingenuous Monster's Ball, to the overwrought Neverland, through the disastrous wreck of Stay, and into the valley of crap that was Stranger than Fiction.
I think these other curses affecting the shoot are just signs. You know, like in the Sixth Sense? He's been a hack all along...
A shame, too, because I absolutely loved Casino Royale...

Pinewood West on the east end of Long Island, the tallest soundstage in New York State (reported 40 feet) was opened in hope that the summer Hamptons film crowd might stay around before leaving for the coast and make a film there. It was blessed by Princess Thunderbird of the Shinnecock. They had something to do with America's first golf course, 12 holes, nearby, reported in the Scotsman online. There is a Hamptons film festival and Stony Brook University film festival (submit for free) which Southampton College just became a part of, where a yearly writers conference is held.
