Latest Captain America Casting Rumor: Leo?

He's portrayed a few iconic characters, including Shakespeare's Romeo and Howard Hughes, but could Leonardo DiCaprio be taken seriously as an iconic superhero? Specifically the Sentinel of Liberty -- Captain America? According to Latino Review (a site well-known and typically respected for its accuracy with rumors of this sort), Marvel Studios has placed Leo on the top of their list of candidates for the role. Of course, there's been no offer made yet, and this is simply the same sort of wish list we heard about for Thor (Brad Pitt is the top of that list), so there's no need to get crazy over the possibility ... yet. Speaking of Pitt, Marvel apparently has placed him as second on their list for Cap. They either want him for The First Avenger: Captain America or Thor. Maybe they'll even offer him the roles of Ant-Man and everyone else in The Avengers (it would be like this, but with Pitt playing all the roles instead of Johnny Depp). There's no mention of who is #3. It could be Matthew McConaughey, who was rumored to be considered before. Or, it could be George Washington. Yes, the real G.W., first President of the United States. Not only is he perfectly relevant for the part, but I think Marvel has as good a chance of casting him as they do of casting Leo.
It's not that I think Leo is too busy to take on a comic book movie. I just think the prospect of playing Cap might give him the better (to Hollywood, not to me) idea for that Titanic sequel they all wish could be made: Jack's been frozen all these years, and now he's back, and he and Rose get to start over again. They would look like Harold and Maude, but really there'd be no technical age difference. Again, a silly idea, but not as silly as Leonardo DiCaprio in red, white and blue tights.

What the hell are they thinking? I may not like Leo at all but I accept that he can be a decent actor. However, in no possible way does he have the physical preference to be the Cap.

I'm serious, comic nerds, let's show your freaking fortitude, Brad Pitt would be a kickass Captain America. He's enough of a man to make it work, the same way Downey Jr. and Ed Norton are Men (as opposed to boys--I'm looking at you, Tobey Maguire). DiCaprio is old enough but sadly, as I COMPLETELY admire his ability, he is too baby faced. Pitt would bring a gravity to the role DiCaprio never could.

I'm pretty sure Marvel already shot down the rumors that Brad Pitt would be Thor and that Matthew McConaughey would be Cap

i might get flamed but how bout the dude that played green arrow on smallville. got the blonde hair, the charm would need to beef up a little but not a stretch like leo playing him.

How bout Channing Tatum? He was pretty ripped in "A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints" and he can act. You need someone that isn't as well-known....although next summer he'll be known as Duke in "G.I. Joe"

when i saw blood diamond and noticed how leo had buffed up and how bad ass a character he was in the movie i did think of leo for cap perfect age super star can act the potentiol is there for an amazing film so yes leo for cap!!!!!

Talk about two bad choices! I can't see Leonardo DiCaprio in the role of Captain American. Sure Brad Pitt of 15 years ago, but not the 45-year-old Brad Pitt of today. Pitt would be nearly 50 when the second movie came out. They need someone in their late 20s or early 30s for this role.

what is wrong with you peaple thank god marvel knows what there doing when it comes to casting. I have been reading captain america for over twenty years steve rogers can be played much better by someone who actually looks like him think saving private ryan meets james bond and you have a cap movie.as for who shoud play him lets talk serious chioces brad pit is to old!!you have to think sequel an actor in his late twentys like jared padelecki of supernatural he has a great chin he has a great body he is over six feet tall good eniugh actor that can pull it off with a good director and great actors around him it would work.
