2008 Teen Choice Awards Nominees Announced

Apparently teens have short attention spans, evidenced by this year's nominees for the 2008 Teen Choice Awards, which were announced this morning. Looking at the first two movie categories, Best Action Adventure Movie and Best Actor: Action Adventure, all the contenders (including Iron Man, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and The Forbidden Kingdom) are from either May or late April of this year. I guess this summer's other movies, like The Dark Knight, The Incredible Hulk and Hancock will just be ignored, since they're too late for this year and won't be remembered next year. Another related thing that was revealed: actresses were not too prominent in action movies of that same period, because the category for Best Actress: Action Adventure looks back a little farther to Abigail Breslin in Nim's Island, Rachel Bilson in Jumper and (whoah, December? that was so long ago) Diane Kruger in National Treasure: Book of Secrets.
Other movie awards will be presented separately in comedy, drama, horror/thriller, "bromantic comedy" and chick flick categories, plus breakthrough performance and best villain. There are also awards given for TV, music, sports, fashion/beauty, comedy and youth service. You can see all the nominees at the TC08 website (or in this PDF file) and if you're an actual teen (aged 13-19), you can also vote (actually, you can lie about your age -- I'm in my 30s and I voted).
Then tune in to FOX at 8pm (ET) on August 4th, to see if your favorites win. The telecast will be hosted by Miley Cyrus (aka Hannah Montana).

And the Oscars have such a fantastic attentions span that 90% of the nominees are from December.
The lack of attention span is known so well that the artsy crap isn't even released until the end of the year in fear of being forgotten.

I am also disappointed in the nominations. When the David Archuleta teen fans questioned and petitioned that he be added to the nominations the teen fans was informed via email response that the winner of the American Idol was automatically added to the list. To keep checking back for updates as he could be added later. The young teens are still hoping for a positive response. For them I hope for a positive.

Actually, the Teen CHoice Awards will release the "summer" categories in the 2nd round of nominations. They couldn't put movies on that weren't out yet. The next round comes out before the show and is called "summer"- so do your research before you jump to conclusions- it's what they do every year!

Thanks for the info. No one has mentioned there is a summer category. There may be hope yet for some of the fans wanting young David Archuleta added. My little Erin who is thirteen was one of them. I will do some research on it. Thanks again.
