Steve Coogan is One Sexy Jesus!
Filed under: Comedy, Trailers and Clips
To be, or not to be Hamlet 2? I was a really bummed when James Rocchi gave Hamlet 2 an iffy review from Sundance this year. I love Shakespeare, and I love Steve Coogan, so the project seemed like a wacky* dream come true. I'm still holding out hope that I'll respectfully disagree with him when the film hits theaters on August 22, but either way, I will always have Steve Coogan's sexy Jesus. You might remember Erik mentioning "Rock Me, Sexy Jesus" in April. Yes, this is a musical number in the film, which is part of the crappy drama teacher's (Coogan) politically incorrect sequel to Hamlet. And now Yahoo has got most of the song available to check out -- from Be Kind Rewind's Melonie Diaz and her co-actresses singing on a bed, to Jesus coming down from the ceiling and getting his groove on. Seeing Coogan dance around in a white tank and tight jeans is just plain wonderful.
What do you think of Coogan's rockin' sexy Jesus?

Am going to see a production of Hamlet(The first one) next week and I can't wait to see the sequel? To it, Steve Coogan can't go wrong.
Just hopefully that he does the Eddie The Eagle film soon.

this movie is terrible. i saw it at a preview screening about 3 months ago.
i wrote a really long review that I'm happy to send to you if interested. my girlfriend, who self-professes to like most movies didn't like it either.
it's truly dreadful. i can't believe it was a $10m acquisition.
sorry to burst your bubble, but man unless they change most of this thing, you're in for a bad time.

Monika,
"So the project seemed like a spastic dream come true."
I know that this is an American site and the word 'spastic' is different in the states. But Cinematical does have an international audience and you need to understand how incredibly offensive the word is in the UK. It really is seen as one of the worst words you can say to anybody.

Apart from that, despite the bad reviews I would still watch this movie, Steve Coogan is excellent.

My apologies, Gary. I'd never heard about the word's negative connotations in the UK. I'll change it now.

Hi Monika,
You have nothing to apologise for, I am aware that the word is used in the states and does not have the same meaning at all. I hope you did not think I was just being picky.
I guess it is a good example of how the Internet is changing language all over the world.
Come to think of it, and maybe an idea for an article, despite this words different meaning it the US I never hear it used in movies. Is it by chance that it is used in the US prints of movies and a scene is re-shot for the international prints, or is there a list of words that while fine for the US are deemed blacklisted because of the offense they would cause abroad, and thus not used even in US shot movies at all?
Cheers Gary

I saw this at Sundance, and found it to be completely, wonderfully delightful, raunchy and hilarious.

I saw this movie in march - twice.
I thought it was brilliantly funny. I think you have to be A. Involved with the high school drama scene at one point in your life (or, sadder yet, be a failed actor yourself) and B.....giggle about poop jokes. if you like both of those, this will rock your sexy world.
Amy Poehler is hit or miss, but skylar astin, pheobe strole, catherine Keener and Steve Coogan make up for it
