Your First Look at Gerard Butler in 'Game'

Do you like video games? How about The Running Man? If your answer to both of these questions is yes, then you're in luck because a Gerard Butler fan site has provided a scan of the July issue of Empire magazine, which includes a sneak peek at the video game thriller, Game, starring Butler and Michael C. Hall (Dexter). OK, so they aren't the greatest photos, but they will remind audiences that the film will at least have stuff blowing up. Crank creators Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor wrote the script and also directed, and I can only assume the two will be doing what they do best: ridiculous action set pieces and over the top machismo.
Game centers on a 'not too distant future' where the most popular past time is an online game called Slayers. But this isn't your usual MMORPG; instead, gamers get to control real-life convicts. Butler stars as Kabel, the most popular contestant who has caught the eye of resistance fighters looking to bring down the games creator, Castle (played by Hall). The cast also includes Milo Ventimiglia (Heroes), Alison Lohman (Beowulf), John Leguizamo, and Christopher 'Ludacris' Bridges.
Game is scheduled to arrive in theaters this fall.

while i dont think this movie will be good as i didnt like crank one bit. this is where gerard butler needs to be. he needs to cut the crap with trying to venture out. he cant do a proper accent so stick to movies that dont require it. i will definitely watch this though

Wow. Let me guess, your knowledge of his credits begins and ends with "300".

Jeeze I wish he'd do a good movie. Considering the writer, director and cast, "Game" does not promise to be good. And before I get bashed around for not knowing Butler's work other than "300," I've seen "The Jury" and "Dear Frankie" both of which were well done. His work in those movies was subtle and real, and worthy of the attention he's receiving now unfortunately for far worse work in far worse movies like "300". And to the rabid fans: "Phantom of the Opera" stunk, everyone in it stunk, including him. If there's a higher power that prequel stage show will not materialize in West London, and if it does then hopefully Mr. Butler will be smart enough to steer clear of it.

hmm... michael c. hall not the greatest actor? you should probably do some homework before writing an article trivializing the skills of one of the best actors out there. hall's work in 6 feet under and dexter are, in my opinion, some of the greatest the "high-end" tv scape has to offer. thats saying a lot since i've seen every episode of the tremendously acted sopranos at least twice each (some more like 6 times), also deadwood, rome and the wire are fantastic productions that dexter easily holds a big ass candle to.

Both Gerry Butler and Michael C. Hall are excellent actors and should be given that credit due them. As far as the "proper accent," who cares? Back in the glory days of television they didn't use "accents" at all to depict foreigners; you just watched and went into the land of make believe with everyone else. Sometimes people get hung up on the craziest things.

I agree, Mitzi....people do get hung up on the craziest things! I think Gerard Butler is one of the best actors out there. The subtle way he can make a point only with the expression on his face or with his eyes....is amazing! As far as his accent is concerned...why don't they just let him use his own Scottish accent.....Sean Connery didn't have to change his!!!! I have to give him credit.....he is not being pigeon-holed into one type character....he's trying them all!!! What a guy!!!!!
