Could Josh Brolin Pull Off Snake Plissken?

I hate it when remake projects challenge your stringent loyalty and anti-remake stance. Since word first broke about a remake of John Carpenter's Escape From New York, I've been disinterested. Maybe if I ignored it, it would go away? Not quite. Gerard Butler certainly wasn't the right man for the job -- assuming that anyone could ever replace, or continue the work of Kurt Russell. But what about Josh Brolin?Spielberg News says they have the scoop that Brolin is in the running to play Plissken. It doesn't completely turn me off for two reasons: 1. Josh has got a similar look, but can bring his own brand of tough snark to the table. 2. Brolin has been picking some diverse, interesting, and good roles lately, so if he was involved, I'd assume there was something in there worth his time. And hey, Josh can certainly pull off an eye patch.
Or, if that's still not enough for you, what if he was Snake's brother? Maybe it's time for Lizard Plissken to beat down some baddies.

Josh is a fine enough choice for Snake- def better than Gerard Butler- i.e. he's American for one thing. But is a remake really warranted? The last film- Escape From L.A. with all the original filmmakers- really blew. Not sure we need this. But that's never stopped Hollywood before.

If Brolin were Snake, maybe I'd almost support the making of this film.

Gerard Butler did NOTHING for me (or, obviously, the filmmakers or fans). Josh Brolin? HELLS YES! He's come a long way from being Brandt in "Goonies". His tough turns in "Planet Terror" and "NCFOM" showed his real mettle. Let's see him remake his dad's "Night of the Juggler" as well! Kurt Russell he ain't, but if the torch has to be passed, I'm excited about it being ol' Doc Block himself.

Yeah, but can he land Schweitzer on a World Trade tower? If he can he ride with the "King of the North Pole".
