Mock Me for Being Happy About 'Resident Evil 4'

Call me crazy, but 90 minutes of Milla Jovovich doing anything is worth watching -- doubly so when her activities deal with zombies, monsters, and ridiculous high-tech weaponry. Yes -- deep sigh -- I'm a (slightly) reluctant fan of the Resident Evil series. (Yep, there's even some stuff I like in Part 2. Like Sienna Guillory.) When I'm writing or net-browsing or playing hours of Zuma, I often like to have a familiar movie playing in the background (like most people do with, um, music) and the Resident Evil flicks fit the bill quite nicely sometimes. (Depending on my mood, of course. Last night my relaxation movie was The Mask of Zorro.)
So it's my relative fandom for the series that leads me to share this half-piece of semi-news: According to the always-fun MTV Movies Blog, series master Paul W.S. Anderson has started speaking to Sony about a Resident Evil 4. And don't even dare act surprised when a series that grossed this much money moves forward on another adventure. How many Police Academy movies were there? (OK, bad example that isn't exactly helping my argument, but I seriously lost count. There were about 28 Police Academy movies? Or it only felt like that many.) Mr. Anderson doles out the reliable "Oh, once we get a good script ... We're not gonna do it just to do it" schpiel, which means he's probably about three weeks away from hiring a writer.
One would assume that Ms. Jovovich's participation would be a foregone conclusion. Actors get paid pretty dang well once you start getting into Part 4 territory. And good for her. For whatever these movies are worth, Milla certainly earns her paycheck on each one. I also like the fact that Resident Evil, Resident Evil: Apocalypse, and Resident Evil: Extinction are alphabetical (which makes my DVD shelf all tidy). Perhaps the next one should be called Resident Evil: Obliteration. (What else would come after extinction?)

The Alice army element of the last one jumped the shark and never looked back. I can't see where they would go with this(well, they already played their Zombie Apocalypse card...)
About Polica Academy: 7 Movies, one short lived TV series, and one singing, terrifying cartoon. I know you know, but still!

My vote still goes to Resident Evil: Dance Party, but that's just me.
In all seriousness, while I think the first RE's a silly-but-solid zombies-and-creatures B-movie, the last two movies were exactly the type of films you'd have to make in order for me to NOT be excited by the prospect of multiple Millas running around and kicking butt.
That said... if they make it, I'll probably watch it, natch.

OH COME ON!
I'm sorry for the outlandish use of capitals, but come on! The first RE was, okay, a guilty pleasure for the most part - another action-game flick on the market. But after the second triumph of dog shite that was RE2, and then Jovovich's crap-wagon, Ultraviolet (What happened, Kurt Wimmer? Equilibrium was great) I could barely bring myself to see RE3. I did however, and everything I felt can be found here:

The prospect of another in the RE series is just a painful idea STOP
Paul WS. Anderson STOP
Please just STOP

Too bad it probably won't follow the path of the fourth RE videogame.
The game makers decided to reboot the entirely way the franchise is presented, and made it into an in-your-face action romp that took place in some Spanish-European village that looks like its from the 1800's, castle and all.
I never saw the third movie, but I assume they've already entered some post-apocalyptic earth setting with sci-fi elements. What garbage.

If they are waiting for a good script they will have to wait a while, but I expect they will settle considering the last 3 were some of the worst films ever made. The worst part is the RE story was already amazing, and completely set up. They had very little to do. Here is hoping PWSA and MJ never make another film.
