About That 'Friends' Movie ...
Well, you can now put this in your pipe and smoke it: According to a rep from Warners UK, there will not be a feature film based on the hit television show Friends. Apparently they were all set to start shooting until someone read my Fan Rant on the topic and called the whole thing off. Yeah, I wish I was that important. Actually, Warner Brothers UK issued the statement after rumors flew all over the internet last week that a Friends movie was in the works after Sex and the City achieved boffo box office success. We picked up the story when it was still in its infancy stages, then wrote about how bad of an idea it was, and, as such, are quite happy to hear it's a no go.Additionally, reps for Courteney Cox Arquette, Matthew Perry, David Schwimmer and Jennifer Aniston have denied any involvement in the feature film, with comments ranging from "Nothing is happening in this regard, so the rumor is false" to "blah blah ... does anyone really care what these people have to say?" I'm actually very happy to hear this and hope it sticks because this is a series that belongs on TV and not on the big screen. Leave it alone ... and, instead, go give us another South Park flick.
Will any of you lose sleep over this Friends news?

I loved the TV show, but when I heard yesterday that a movie was rumoured to be in the works, I was not happy. Just put Matthew Perry in more films and I'll be happy (Numb, for instance.)

Hi you idiot,
F.R.I.E.N.D.S. might belong on the small screen but somehow I can picture it on the big one. So you should stop posting bad things abou them, and even if the movie is bad I'll go to see it and buy the DVD!!!!!

You, Sir. are the dream audience of garbage producers. You pay to see something even if it's bad because it matches the posters in your room and you insult those who don't agree. Good job!

Hey! I Have not decided how I feel if FRIENDS were to grace the big screen, but I DO know, however, that the series, and owning the dvd set, has given my teens and me many hours of bonding and laughter----you can';t replace that!! we LOVE the series, and IF it comes out, we will be there!!
We LOVE all the characters and actors protraying them----they really are talented in our opinion--to make you feel that these are "real" people you can relate to, etc--that's talent!!

I think a Friends movie would be a great idea (and not just because I am a fanatic). There are so many Friends fans out there who would go nuts to see this movie. Yeah sure there have been TV shows made into movies that have floped...but that does not mean it will happen to Friends. Sex and the City was a prime example. I watched it on TV and I absolutely loved the movie. I laughed, I cried, I cried from laughing. There is no sure way to say that Friends would turn out the same- but I am certain that it would be very hard to break the chemistry between the Friends cast well all know and love.
Bottom line, if you really think seeing the movie is going to ruin it for you, then don't see it! But I will be there on opening night, and I'm buying the DVD.

i really loved the show and so my many friends and we all think it would be a great idea to make this series a movie bcoz of the great comic and acting skills of the starring actors and i totally disagree with the idea that it belongs to the television bcoz the stuff like FRIENDS is medium free and will succeed in every medium.

A Friends movie? Why not- as an adaptation of Agatha Christie's "And Then There Were None." That'll put an end to it all...

OMG!!! Friends was genius as a series, it would be even better as a moive. How could it be a bad idea? if it fails the tv series will still be as good as always and nobody will lose anything anyway. There will be a huge following as it is still a major hit, just look at SATC that was a risk that paid off and it was less popular than friends! I think its a great idea!!!!!!!
