Disney Prepares Comedy About ... Synchronized Swimming

To me, the only male synchronized swimmers are the ones above -- Martin Short and Harry Shearer, with a little added choreography from a spandex-clad Christopher Guest. However, we're about to get another variety, and I'm not sure what I think about that. The Hollywood Reporter posts that Disney and Scott Rudin have teamed up for Synchronicity, a project that's been in development hell at the company for awhile now.
Mary Scott and Toni Kotite, who recently sold Parent Class, are working on the script, which focuses on male synchronized swimmers, and of course, is said to be following the lead of Will Ferrell and Ben Stiller's sports comedies. But what's with this recent obsession? Variety reported back in March that Sweden is making their own male synchronized comedy.
If Christopher Guest did this feature too, I'd be intrigued. But as it stands, do we really need another typical goofy male sports comedy?

I wonder will it bear any resemblance to the hugely successful Japanese comedy Waterboys - a recent movie about an all-male highschool synchronised swimming team...

*cough*cough* exuuse me??? what kind of a joke is this?? synchonized swimming is the hardest sport in the universe and i'd like to see all u haters and stupid tv people attempt it!! it should be against the law to insult and damage the name of synchronized swimmers everywhere by telling stupid lies and promoting false beliefs about the incredibly hard SPORT!!!!! ya, S-P-O-R-T!!! this movie does not show a sport, it shows stupid people jumping up and down in the water!!! you're all just jelous!!! and im sure were not the only people who feel this way... just wait and seee :{

To reply to the last comment, I am a synchronized swimmer and have been for the last 18 years of my life. And I believe this movie will just be a comedy...Just like what Will Ferrel did for ice skating (Blades of Glory). I think that this will get the name out for synchronized swimming and let more people aware of the sport. Anyone who has tried synchronized swimming knows its hard...it isn't there to insult us, it there to be a comic relief.
