September Films Grabs Pregnant Man Story

By now I'm sure everyone knows who Thomas Beatie is. At least, you know him by his other name, the "pregnant man." As soon as he popped on the unstoppable media ship that is Oprah, his name and pregnant belly were everywhere. He had the baby earlier this month, and now Variety reports that September Films have scored the worldwide rights to make an hour-long documentary called Pregnant Man.The 34-year-old grew up as a female, living in Hawaii, getting a black belt, and believe it or not, spending some time as a teen beauty pageant contestant. Ten years ago, Beatie decided to become a man, and began hormone treatments and had breast removal surgery. However, he kept his reproductive organs in order to have a child some time in the future. When the time came, he stopped the hormones and got pregnant -- thus the media whirlwind.
September Films, meanwhile, is really into this sort of thing -- the whole amazing feats of science that TLC often gets into. Aside from Pregnant Man, their slate includes I Am the Elephant Man, The Human Camera, and The Boys Joined at the Head. Personally, I wouldn't choose a company that actively picks out these stories and become just another oddity, but to each their own.

If anything, it's interesting as it's one of the greatest media scams of all time, obviously. This is just a story about a woman who had her breasts removed, and then had a baby. Just because she changed her name to "Thomas" doesn't make her a man. To quote Bill Murray from Ghostbusters "Yes it's true. This man has no **** ".

There is no such thing as a pregnant man! This woman is just trying to look like a man but she can't be a man. I she wants to be a man so bad she should at least have her female reproductive organs removed and get a penis in stalled

In the middle of the road to manhood, Woman decides to participate in strictly womanly activity: childbirth.
Media decides to look at this. Tells everyone like it's important.

I mean, why would I pay to see that? Are they going with a comedy route? Why are people still talking about this?

Talk about wanting your cake and eating it too - if you want to be a guy, don't get worked up about having a baby - if you want to have a baby, be happy to be a woman for crying out loud.
It's sad how much media attention this freakshow is getting... even Oprah's ultra lib audience was stunned silent when she (Oprah) tried to "mainstream" this.
