Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince Trailer!

The first trailer for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince has just arrived online (watch it above or over on Moviefone in glorious HD), and, well, wow -- is it creepy or what? Not a ton of Harry, but we get our first look at Tom Riddle (as the young Voldemort) and it's clear we're heading in a very dark direction. It's a different trailer, I think, than we all expected -- and it doesn't come with all your usual montage-shots-as-the-music-builds kinda stuff. That's not to say we won't get all that in the next trailer ... and, truth me told, I definitely dig what they did here. Move over Twilight, our friend Harry Potter is back in theaters on November 21.
What did you think of the trailer?

Awesome! Love the music and the cinematography! Tom is awfully creepy! I hope they keep doing this kind of advertising because they always make final trailers full of spoilers!

I dig the trailer as a teaser pretty much for the fans. And the flick looks quite lush. But then again, Order of the Phoenix also had an astounding trailer, but is (for my money) the most ineffective adaptation yet.
Lets hope David Yates remedies his mistakes this time around.

I want to make sure it's clear that you're perfectly entitled to your opinion- I just want to represent the other side of the spectrum. For myself, OotP was my favorite adaptation, followed by numbers 3 (almost a tie), 4, 1, and 2 respectively.
The reason? First, it carried on the ingenuity first evidenced by "Azkaban", meaning that while it was true to the spirit of the books, it was not slavishly obedient. A book translated exactly to the screen will inherently lack effective pacing, and possibly dialogue (depending on the writing style), just because the mediums are so different.
Two, it remedied the problems #4 had with balancing all the action and big special effects with quiet moments and meaningful dialogue.
Three, I felt that the acting had more heart in it. I have been particularly impressed with Daniel and Rupert as they've refined their acting styles over the years.
There's always room for improvement, but I for one hope that David Yates keeps going in the track he began.

once again Hollywood, makes me believe to never have children cuz they are sooo freaky, move over 'Joshua' 'Omen';
'Harry Potter 6' of all movies, is going to scare the shit out of me. I'm more looking forward to the epic two-parter of 'Deathly Hallows'.
I CAN'T WAIT THOUGH

Agreed, the cinematography looks fantastic, as does the set design as usual. The young Tom Riddle is frightening... makes the girl from "The Ring" look like Little Debbie.

eh i guess i'll see it. my interest in the series kind of declined after the first three books. no offense to other fans, i love the series, its just that the first three books were the best to me and the series got too dark and depressing afterwards

Amazing! I can't wait!
And I just want to mention that the 5th film was the greatest for me... HP films and books are getting better every year! Well, books are finished but we have movies! :)

A vast improvement over the teasers for the past few Harry Potters. This is the first since Prisoner of Azkaban's to actually create an air of suspense and anticipation. To say nothing of the fact that it does wonders to the series's gay subtext.

OMG!!! Ive always wondered at which point will Harry Potter movies start to evolve as it started to from Prisoner of Azkaban but then it reverted back to feeling monotonous in Order of the Phoenix. This teaser is what it is aTEASER however, i sensed real darkness in this teaser nothing like darkness has been portrayed in earlier HP movies. Now lets hope that this movie continues on that path and that it only deviates to allow us to take a breath!!! I CANT WAIT!!!!
BRING IT ON!!!

Young Tom is great! I love the look of enjoyment he gets as Dumbledore lights the cabinet on fire. Pure Evil. I love it!
Which film do you think will be attached to the theatrical trailer? I've heard some people guess High School Musical 3.
