Confirmed: Seth Rogen Knows Nothing of a 'Ghostbusters' Sequel

For awhile now -- and ever since it was announced there would be a new Ghostbusters video game -- those Ghostbusters live-action sequel rumors have been all over the place. The latest, shoveled out through Dread Central last week, claimed that the sequel was going forward -- with all four original Ghostbusters (Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Harold Ramis) returning -- along with "Seth Rogen and the crew from The 40 Year Old Virgin." Yes, word on the street had it that the new ghost hunters would be played by Rogen, Steve Carell, Paul Rudd and Romany Malco.Hey, as a fan of all those dudes, I personally think it's a pretty good idea. Unfortunately, Rogen knows nothing about the so-called collaboration. I asked him about it earlier today during the Pineapple Express NY press day, and it kinda took him by surprise. "Really? That's f**king rad! No one's told me about it, you're the first one. You got a script? [laughter] "Yeah, no -- are they actually remaking Ghostbusters? Sounds fun, though -- I'm psyched about it ... but are you sure I'm not playing Slimer?" Rogen joked, following that up with his trademark deep, cough-like laugh.
So, sorry Ghostbusters fans -- at least you have the video game to look forward to. And, who knows, enough people get onboard with the idea and maybe this wild rumor will eventually become reality. Question is, would you want it to?

Seth Rogen making Ghostbusters? Ludicrous.
It's almost as crazy as Jason Segel making a Muppet movie.

I don't take issue with it, as long as they actually try for real quality. None of this silly have-fun-with-it-but-don't-take-it-seriously stuff.
That stuff seems, thankfully, far away from Jason Segel's Muppets, by the way. Other commenter: JSiegel. So close!

Except it wasn't cancelled, the publishers simply aren't publishing it, but someone else will.

This is the best news ever, that casting would be prime (assuming they are the sons of the orginal cast), I've been stoked and bought a PS3 with the sole reasoning for GBIII.
I really hope they revive this franchise, after all the original was the number 1 movie in my birth year.
This is border-line 'Dark Knight' anticipation for me...... but more

Hell Yes I'd want it! I think the idea of handing the packs over to Rogen's crew would be an awesome move. Too bad it's not really happening. A bunch of us were talking about it all day yesterday. But we decided they would have to have Jonah Hill in there as well.

I am a huge fan of the first Ghostbusters movie, and for a long time I've opposed the idea of another sequel or, God forbid, a remake...but Seth Rogen is one of the few people whom I'd trust to do a kick-ass job.
I'd watch it.

Don't forget Harold Ramis' affiliation with Knocked Up. These guys are close, if they were to hand the reigns over to anyone it would be Rogen and his crew. I think this would be the only cast that could make it work and not destroy the ghostbusters legacy, or pull a Dumb and Dumberer

I dunno...our source (see http://www.pause.com/index.php/who-you-gonna-call-christopher-walken/) told us basically the same thing, with a little bit additional info, and we hadn't seen the Dread Central piece until after we'd received the info.
All I'm saying is, either our source (from the studio, btw) is messing with us, or Rogen's being a good actor and not outing a project that he's not supposed to out.
