An American Gladiator as the Next Conan or Captain America?

Finally, we all have a reason to watch American Gladiators sober! Apparently, the Gladiator known as Titan (aka Mike O'Hearn) was on the Todd n' Tyler radio show this morning in Omaha where he blew the mind of Omaha-ians with word that he's pretty close to landing the lead role in Lionsgate's Conan reboot. Slashfilm picked up the news from a reader, then listened to the show and came back with this quote from Titan (who was supposed to meet with Conan folks this morning): "Today's not even an audition. They're bringing me in today just to sit me down and talk. How about that? It's even better than an audition!"
Additionally, Titan also told Todd n' Tyler that he's got a casting session scheduled for Marvel's Captain America, which means they've got the ball rolling over there. He definitely looks the part, but will Marvel really take a chance on an American Gladiator as the lead in a big summer blockbuster flick? I can't see that happening, but you never know -- word is Titan looks good when he ... makes a fist? (I dunno, I'm reachin' here ...)
What do you think about all this? Personally, I don't mind Titan as Conan, but only if this guy plays the bad guy. On the other hand, the role of Captain America is a bit more precious. Would you fans mind it going to a Gladiator, or do you want someone more recognizable?

Go check out Sandy Collora's Superman/Batman fanfic World's Finest...he played Superman and did a fine job for what was probably an afternoon or two of shooting and little real acting training.

I don't know why it's not listed on his IMDB resume or why no one has pointed this out, but Mike/Titan was Superman in the amateur short "World's Finest". He did a great job for a fan video and that short is probably what even got him an initial interview for Conan/Cap.
Here's a trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PIWskgVx_v0

I think Titan would be a good Thor...Josh Duhamel as Capt. America, and for the Destroyer...no idea...but please don't let it be some blond blue eyed Jock - he needs to be dark, massive and about as wholesome looking as rabid bulldog.

NO and NO.
Just because someone looks the part is a quarter of the battle. This guy is so cheese ball all the time and he cant be taken seriously. If he can magically pull some great acting out of his abs, then good for him, but I think its to little to late in the game when it comes to being a leading man in a film.
They need to grab a guy for Captain America who can act, I mean really act, because CAP A is probably the most cheesiest of Marvels line up, and im referring to most of the lines he says; and most importantly the suit. The actor has to battle against so much to make the character believable. I think that will take someone with acting guts and skill.
Marvel wouldn't mess it up.... right? ...Please... no.

And I thought we were over the days of the Stallone and Schwarzenegger types getting all of the big action roles. I could care less about Conan, but if they pull this crap on something HUGE like Captain America, it will bomb. I'm not saying you need an A-lister, just somebody who can act.

I personally do not think RE Howard ever intended Conan to be a "bodybuilder". From reading the books (& comics) when I was younger I always thought of him as obviously very strong, but also somewhat lithe and athletic.
I don't know what exactly I'm going for here, but I think a body type like Brad Pitt in Troy would be perfect. Strong, well built but not exactly the "muscle head" they seem to want to go for. Although I liked the original Conan movie, I think Arnold was not the best body type for the part. He just seemed too big for my taste. Unfortunately that is now the standard and it is a shame no one except "bodybuilder" types are being looked at. I mean even a Russell Crowe circa Gladiator would work.
Just my 2 cents worth.

Thats it,but you'll go ahead with it anyway and Screw up another classic just so you can get your money,in the end it's all about money no matter how things turn out.

"Hither came Conan, the Cimmerian, black-haired, sullen-eyed, sword in hand, a thief, a reaver, a slayer, with gigantic melancholies and gigantic mirth, to tread the jeweled thrones of the Earth under his sandalled feet."
— Robert E. Howard, The Phoenix on the Sword, 1932.
Now does that remind anyone of Mike O'Hearn I THINK NOT!!!!
