BREAKING: Bernie Mac, Dead at 50
Filed under: Celebrities and Controversy, Fandom, Newsstand

The AP is reporting this morning that actor/comedian Bernie Mac has passed away in a Chicago area hospital from complications due to pneumonia. He's also suffered from an inflammatory lung disease known as sarcoidosis, though that had gone into remission back in 2005. Mac, who won a Peabody Award for his very popular sitcom The Bernie Mac Show, was also well known for his stand-up comedy -- and as part of The Original Kings of Comedy -- as well as his various big-screen appearances in films from the Ocean's series to Bad Santa to Mr. 3000 to his upcoming roles in Soul Men opposite Samuel L. Jackson, and Old Dogs opposite Robin Williams and John Travolta.
Dude was a funny, funny man. He will be missed. What's your favorite Bernie Mac performance/joke/moment? Feel free to share your thoughts on the man in the comments section below ...

My favorite Bernie Mac moment:
Ocean's Eleven.
"You want me to get up on this table and dance? You want me to shine your shoes? You want me to smile atcha?"
That whole scene is comic gold, and Bernie Mac pulls it off and pulls no punches. That scene made me a fan. And that's not to mention many of his other great moments in Ocean's Eleven. Tragically under-used in Ocean's Twelve... better use of screen time in Ocean's Thirteen, and a hilarious turn in Transformers...
I was anxiously awaiting a leading role that is nothing but great laughs.
He will be missed.

I always dug his show. It always put a humanizing outlook on his life, career and experiences. In fact when I heard about his death, I immediately thought of his cast members on that show and how they must feel because it always looked like they were very close on that show. Either that, or that was some great acting.

Dang its said to hear that he pass away. At first people with thier stupid minds gossping too much said he died already was out of order. Now that he really died, it just so painful. He was more than a comdian, he was human-being that made many people laugh and touch alot of people with his gift talent. what horrible news, I too loved his performance in Ocean's 11 . I thought that his performances had a level of honesty and truth of emotion that was missing from many of his contemporaries. I'llmiss that, and the calm yet energetic presence he had on stage and screen.

Great comedian, actor, and human being. God bless him and his family in their time of need.
Bernie Mac story:
He used to frequent the nail salon right down the street from where I used to work. He came in one day to get a manicure and there was a bunch of high school girls in there getting their nails done for prom. When he left, he paid for ALL of their manicures without saying a word. He never looked for any thanks or anything and was just a great human being. He will be sorely missed.
God bless you, Bernie Mac.
