Isaac Hayes Passes Away at 65
According to the Associated Press, 65-year-old singer-songwriter Isaac Hayes has passed away after being found unresponsive in his Memphis, TN home.
An indelible influence on the world of music, a pop culture icon besides for his work as Chef on "South Park" and in its full-length feature, Hayes will be most fondly remembered in the world of film for his award-winning theme to Shaft and his role as 'The Duke' in Escape from New York.
Hayes showed up in his fair share of other movies, apparently including a cameo as himself in the upcoming comedy Soul Men, starring Samuel L. Jackson and the late Bernie Mac -- this after making an appearance on "The Bernie Mac Show" in 2005 and an uncredited cameo in the 2000 version of Shaft, starring Jackson.

I had the same reaction. But this has been a bummer of a week. First Morgan Freeman gets in a horrific accident last week, Bernie Mac dies yesterday and now Chef is gone.

My heart is just broken, broken , broken. Right now the entertainment world is truly in so much pain. To the beautiful Hayes and Mac family I just don't know what to say. I'm in so much shock. As a child in the early 70's it was Isaac Hayes "Shaft" that shook the music world with dancing in the streets only to go down in history as one of the greatest "Black movie musical scores ever!!!!! Just like Bernie was a comic genious Isaac was truly, truly a musical genious. Both will live in my heart forever. Thank you Bernie!!! Thank you Isaac for touching the world with your love forever. My God you both will be so missed. The world loved you both so much. My condolences to all the aching broken hearts of the world right now who as myself are truly hurting and in shock from these back to back passing of two lengends.RIP my brothers. Jesus, help us through this pain. It hurts so much and we can't make it through this without your STRENTH!!!! Help us Lord ! Help us!!!
