What of Anne Hathaway's Missing 'Passengers'?

For quite some time, the supernatural thriller Passengers -- starring Anne Hathaway as a grief counselor working with survivors of a plane crash (among them, Patrick Wilson) who begin to vanish -- had been quietly set on opening this Friday, September 5th.
However, as the date neared without any sign of a poster, a trailer, anything, I began rooting around the IMDb message boards and was about to post a Spanish-language trailer, complete with accompanying amateur translation, when along came a legit trailer (by way of Reelz Channel), a real poster (courtesy of IMP Awards), and a new date of October... well, just October for now.
Given his knack for ensemble dramas such as Nine Lives and Things You Can Tell Just By Looking at Her, director Rodrigo Garcia seems to be a curious pick for the material, as the focus is less on what's happened to the group as a whole and more on Hathaway and Wilson investigating one another. Otherwise, the vibe I'm getting here is the one I had from 2004's The Forgotten: it has just enough of a hook to get me to watch it, but I doubt that the pay-off will live up to it.
What do you guys think? Will September's Lakeview Terrace and October's Rachel Getting Married satisfy your Wilson and Hathaway jones, respectively? And facing this Halloween's mainstream horror fare, is Sony, under the Tri-Star banner, about to dump this in a limited amount of theaters as they had with, say, Wind Chill, which just happened to star Prada pal Emily Blunt?

I see this going into a few select theaters before heading right to DVD. It totally reminds me of the Wind Chill situation. Sure Emily Blunt is a great actress, but Wind Chill is just plain dumb. You've seen a variation on that movie a thousand times.
The trailer on this resembles The Eye, Premonition, [Insert Japanese Remake Here], but Patrick Wilson is not a bankable enough co-star, if that is where he will be billed in this movie. I don't even think Hathaway can carry this to the top... I agree that the ending will not satisfy (Oh, Hathaway was dead all along!! Wowee!), and can point to any recent "I see dead people" flick that you've seen on DVD. Enough already, come up with something new.

The movie may not look great, but Anne Hathaway and Patrick Wilson are really unique actors and Rodrigo Garcia is a genius.
I am really excited for the movie!

From what is shown in the trailer is this just another excuse to get Anne's kit off and if so,as said, will very quickly go to DVD Stupid Girl when will she accept that nudity dose not bring success as her record to date has shown. Is she so insecure that she carn't accept the her own ability as an actress is all she needs to advance her career. It is said that she is worried certain photos taken by the FBI will be published, one might suggest she is more worried that they won't.

Andy, the movie is PG-13, and there's no nudity in it. Seems you're just judging Anne Hathaway because she seemingly has a sex scene in this movie.
And, why exactly is that a problem? Why aren't you criticizing Patrick Wilson for being in that sex scene? And, yeah, Havoc bombed and went direct to video, but the only other movie she got naked in was Brokeback Mountain, and look how huge that was. And her careers gone from strength to strength since then, so your comments are pretty useless.

For all the hype and awards that BM attracted the only recognition Anne received was for her topless scene, and was on screen for approx ten mnutes in a film over thee hours long, prior to that she had allways played the lead, and for months after in every interview she gave, refered to nudity in one form or another. Anne also appeared topless in TDWP but someone had the good sense to delete it before the film went on general release. The point I was making was that she is far to beautiful and tallented, and has no need to resort to nudity to advance her career. I did say she appeared in the trailer to be exposed however in Rachels Getting Married she is naked in a bath. Anne has allready admitted that her nudity upset many of her fans.

She never appeared topless in The Devil Wears Prada. It was always intended to be PG-13, and they would never have written nudity into the script, let alone film it.
And I don't understand how "beautiful and talented actress" and "no nudity clause" should go together? "Nudity to further career" is what people like Alyssa Milano and Drew Barrymore did, and they got naked in sucky DTV garbage. Anne has done nudity in respectable movies, like Brokeback Mountain and Rachel Getting Married. Sure, Havoc was a mistake, but that's in the past now and her career neither suffered or florished because of it.
Plus many actors and actresses have got naked in movies, and performing nude doesn't mean the actor lacks class or self-respect.

Adam: you've summarized everything pretty well -- and I'm grateful for that -- but for your own sake, you might as well not bother with this guy anymore. It's clearly an uphill battle full of ignorance and imaginary nudity.

Why do we as fans have to be put into a maze into when our movie going the be shown. For example, "The Accidental Husband" with Urma Thurman, Colin Firth and Jeffrey D. Morgan is now premiering in March of 2009. It was to come on this week, but all of sudden no push to March. Why do we get our hopes up into watch a film with our favorite stars and suddenly switch mode in happening.
