Millar Talks 'Wanted' Sequel(s) and Superman Trilogy
Filed under: Action, RumorMonger, Fandom, Newsstand, Comic/Superhero/Geek, Remakes and Sequels
It's definitely no secret that writer Mark Millar is a wanted man these days (or at least he wants you to believe he's a wanted man), what with his comic series Wanted doing very well in theaters and another series of his, Kick-Ass, about to start production -- not to mention all this talk of the guy possibly taking over the Superman franchise from a writing and creative standpoint. We'll get to the latter in just a second, but first up there's Wanted ... and Wanted 2 ... and, wait, Wanted 3, too?In an interview with Newsarama, Millar spoke about how much he's participating in the Wanted follow-up ... and it would seem like he only gave the studio a "very small amount for a story, and that will be used as a basic story that they can build from." He adds, "It will be some of the stuff that we didn't utilize from the first book for the movie – like chapters three and four – there will be some stuff from that, so in the loosest sense it will be based on the book, but only very little." Millar also noted that both part two and part three are greenlit, and that James McAvoy is indeed signed on to reprise his role in both sequels.
Hear what Millar has to say about his proposed seven-hour, Lord of the Rings-like Superman trilogy after the jump ...
Oh yes, it's THAT epic! Millar also recently sat down with G4 to talk all things comic-related, and divulged details on his Superman idea. Seems like he's all gung-ho about it, but I'm sure the studio is entertaining all sorts of ideas from a bunch of different people before settling into the one they want to go with. After all, there are only so many chances you get when it comes to re-booting a franchise like Superman. Check out the G4 interview with Millar below, then feel free to tell us what you'd like to see in the new Supes movies over here.

Superman Returns was lame, and I'm glad they're rebooting. Lex Luthor needs to be reborn as the badass he is in the comics, rather than the comical version Gene Hackman started in the eighties. Let's take the Superman mythos seriously!
BTW, why didn't Lois act a little more shocked at the revelation of her and Superman's love-child? Her mind was wiped in the second movie so she shouldn't even remember having sex with Superman...she should be like "WTF, when did you date-rape me?!"

If they really must reboot the Superman franchise--and I don't think they should, because once you've got the definitive film incarnation of the character, from the 1978 film, there's no need--the perfect way to go would be to get Steven Spielberg in the director's chair. It would be big, colorful, imaginative, and with plenty of heart. That's what a Superman movie should be.
Though, of course, it'll never happen.

wanted was god awful. I saw the entire movie in the :60 trailer. Why did they change from the book. I wanted to see a badass movie about supervillain assassins not some stupid, controlled breathing douche bags.
Even Jolie's ass couldn't save it IMO

If you didn't like Wanted you're definately a minority, and that includes the author of the comics. Mark Millar loved the film adaption and said it was an improvement over his own version.
...as for Superman...I'm not sure how I feel about a reboot. Two years ago I would have been opposed of the idea. But now Hollywood has made such a mess out of all these franchises that it really doesn't matter to me any more. They can do what they want with it. If it sucks, I'll still have the original on DVD.
