Get a Load of Bulma in the New 'Dragonball' Poster

I might have been raised on the old maxim: If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all -- but even I can't keep my mouth shut on this one. A new poster and some stills from the live-action Dragonball have hit the net (along with some official pics from Fox), and it is not looking any better for the anime update. If you are one of the few Dragonball fans left out there with hope for this movie, I'm afraid once you get a look at James Marsters as Lord Piccolo, the dream of a decent flick goes right out the window. Although to be fair, I have to give them credit for trying out a slightly more 'modern' look on the new poster art.Dragonball stars Justin Chatwin as the mighty Goku (a casting decision that has yet to ever really make sense), a legendary warrior who is responsible for protecting the awesome powers of the mystical 'Dragonballs'. Jamie Chung also stars as Chi Chi (Goku's love interest), along with Marsters as the evil Lord Piccolo (oh Spike, where did it all go wrong?), Chow Yun Fat as Master Roshi, and Emmy Rossum as Bulma.
Just last week, the rumors were silenced that Fox would be scrapping the one hundred million dollar film. The current spin from Fox is that they are 100% behind the project -- but honestly, what else could they say? So whatever you may think about Dragonball, plenty of fans will probably be there on opening day. Who knows? Maybe I'll be one of them. I have been known to enjoy watching a train wreck on screen -- how about you?
[Thanks Coming Soon]

I reserve judgement until I see some vfx. Let's face it, Dragonball is pretty light on story, heavy on fighting. If they can get the crazy action right, then it may be worth a look if only for the eyecandy.
There had better be a hour's worth of machismo taunting and verbal mud slinging!

Not Even a DB Fan said...
I'm not even a DB {or any sub series} fan. Infact, the only reason I ever watched the program was the lack of anything else on.
And somehow.. I'm still insulted by the myrid of Artistic Destruction done to this Story.
As previously said, Bulma's hair is Blue. This is easily overlooked as a factor that the Actress may have refused to wear a wig or temporarily dye her hair color.
But issues such as Piccolo...
To my understanding, Marster's son is a DB fan, and he's watched a good portion of the series, if not all. How can he approve of this kind of Costume? I've made costumes for 15 years. My mother for 20+ years before me. I'm an artist to boot.
The major flaws I've seen are A) Piccolo's Anteni are missing.
B) His skin is supposed to be GREEN {although this can be explained because Hollywood DOES use 'Green Screens', although they also use something called 'Blue Screens' which is the same thing, save a color difference.}
C) His physical markings - The yellow ovals on his arms and shoulders - have become black and part of his leather jumpsuit. WTF?
and D) Piccolo, in the origonal DB when he was a villian, is an *old man*.
What the heck are the film makers thinking?!

I'm a huge DBZ fan and my heart is breaking everytime I see some of the pics they are releasing for this movie. I should have known better that a series as great as DBZ only had a matter of time before Hollywood sunk its claws into it and turned it into something cheap, laughable and a down right disgrace to fans everywhere. Sadly though, because I'm a true fan a will be there the opening night, but with big tears in my eyes...

you all dont get the point of this movie its not about the energywaves and stuff its got guns instead from the look of the screen shots. i might be wrong tho from wat iv heavd its made more like an action film then a fantasy thay just took parts of the story line. and you shouldnt judge a films till uve seen it cos u dont know wat its like, so stop acting like sheep and sucking up to others who say it will be crap and learn to have an opinion of ur own....

From what I'm seeing, the directors are taking the DragonBall realm into a different direction.
The characters indeed do not look a thing like the original animated characters, which is unfortunate but not surprising.
(Don't get me wrong, I am an AVID DB/DBZ fan and dislike the fact that it seems to be completely backwards, but I'm giving it a shot.)
Hopefully this will turn out to be a great movie. (If it's anything like the new Speed Racer, though... we're in trouble.)

I've been a huge Dragonball fan for a good decade now. I've seen all the anime movies as well as the every episode out there (DB, DBZ, DBGT). Now, from what I saw of the movie (the leaked trailer and pictures) I'm not going to put the movie down yet. I have to see it first. Now from what I've read, the actual movie trailer isn't supposed to hit Movie theaters until December, so wait until then before criticizing the movie. If I recall, a lot of people did the same thing with Spider-Man (the organic webs, the Green Goblin costume), and it still worked out pretty well, didn't it? When Hollywood takes something and adapts it to the Big Screen, the story is going to change (not to the point where EVERYTHING is different), characters' looks may change (they might even look more realistic, i.e. Bulma's hair, or Piccolo).
Now the only thing I'm concerned about is whether or not they are going to stick with the storyline of "Goku killing King Piccolo, who sends out an egg carrying his essence within it, only to be resurrected as Piccolo Jr. and fight Goku at the
World Martial Arts Tournament". More from the rumor bandwagon, I've heard that there are some characters in the movie whose names haven't been revealed yet, so there may be more to the film. I don't think they'll have Tien or Chiatzo, but who cares about them, they sucked anyways.
Krillin and Yamcha were the only two fighters that really stood out (besides Piccolo, Gohan, Goten, and Trunks). Yamcha was the love interest for Bulma (until Vegeta snagged her away) and Krillin fought alongside Goku all the way until the GT series (where he got old). And now, I think I've been rambling. Yikes, this is long. Oh well. My bad.
